THE HIT LIST: December 12, 2016
Well…here’s the skinny if you’re just tuning in. I’m fighting a bad cold and so I’ll be dialing back on the writing a bit until I get back on my feet. Until then, this may possibly be the final Hit List of the year while I’ve gathered plenty of content to share and for you to enjoy from here on. As always, first up are the stunt reels of the past week with some great selections, starting with David Zuckerman, Robert Steven Brown, Canada’s own Kyle Wong, and stuntwoman C.C. Ice whose latest stunt reel went viral back in August but only came in my purview just as of late last week. Well, it was a weekend of work, anime and sleep. Thankfully the second now comes with good word of a few notable titles now available at Crunchyroll that I can finally finish where Netflix left off since they often store incomplete shows… …Anyway, enough of that. It’s time to get to a trio of meaty, mighty playlists for this week’s installment of THE HIT LIST that I know you will have plenty to fill up with. I think I may have contributed more on my blog than I may have wanted to, although it was probably instinctive. Maybe. Alas, I found myself working on the Hit List at the very last minute of Sunday and so I managed to get a few things together, including a few oldie-goodies I think are worthy of your viewing… On that one and as always, we’re starting things off with a slew of stunt reels and I’m buckling down to twelve this week for a playlist that features stuntwoman Somnang Chay, followed by a return to form from German action actor and Kampfansage co-star Volkram Zschieche. 2016 appears to be the continuance of an era of Star Wars fandom as of late. With filmmaker J.J. Abrams at the helm of a new fan film contest between now and April, expect to see plenty of these gems going viral this year with one such project currently screening until its official release on Sunday. Filmmaker and actor Noel Braham makes his stellar return to the film fray after a small hiatus a few years ago, now with his newest contribution to sci-fi, Exile. Braham stars as Makal Lori, a Padawan in-training on the lam with Master Boemana Tora in the wake of the Empire’s campaign led by a Sith Inquistor against the Jedi and anyone sensitive to the Force. This year’s Star Wars Celebration begins its four-day weekend event this Thursday on April 16, and it’s all the rage right now as fans prepare to feel the Force awaken once more this December with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Well, it looks like Star Wars fan fare is back in full bloom now that we are less than two years away from a new trilogy, and just a few days away from some amazing announcements set to take place this Sunday on May 4. That said, as always, we still have the awesome content creators of the interwebs to look forward to as they devote themselves to their favorite franchise with their own shorts and various projects, including filmmaker Corey Vidal who just shared his latest fan contribution, Clash At The Cantina.
