Studiocanal is proudly unveiling the first official key art for Paris Has Fallen, taking its cues from the Gerard Butler-led Has Fallen film franchise and now headed for the small screen. ELYAS: Roschdy Zem Is A Man On Fire In The Official Trailer For The French Action Thriller
Celebrated actor Roschdy Zem is taking the lead this summer with French actioner Elyas, from director Florent-Emilio Siri. Studiocanal unveiled the official trailer on Tuesday for the new action thriller which also stars “Fauda” actress Laëtitia Eïdo, and is set to open in France firstly on July 3. In Elyas, Zem plays the titular ex-special forces operative who suffers from PTSD after serving in Afghanistan. As the synopsis notes, Elyas, now working as a bodyguard, must stop at nothing to fend off a ferocious commando who’ve targeted the Emirati mother and daughter he was just hired to protect. A Variety exclusive broke on Tuesday noting the title of the movie as “Fatum,” which could be the case for its domestic release, although I’m not certain. At any rate, the title card in the trailer below is Elyas, so I’m sticking with that if Studiocanal is. Take a look!
INVASION: Get A Look At The New Dutch Action Thriller Coming Soon To The U.S.!
Merely a day away from its release in the Netherlands is Bobby Boerman’s latest action thriller, Invasion. The cast is led by Tarikh Janssen, Fedja van Huêt, Jasha Rudge, Gijs Blom, Ortál Vriend, and Gijs Scholten van Aschat. Out of nowhere, Curaçao and Aruba are attacked by a dictatorial neighboring country. Politics in The Hague is astonished. When the conflict rapidly escalates, three young Marines must make a difference. Soon the barracks on Aruba are also under fire and the airspace is closed, while the Dutch ambassador still has to be evacuated from enemy territory. The rescue mission of the new Marines therefore becomes a race against time. BAC NORD: French Crime Thriller Shoots In August From ‘The Man With The Iron Heart’ Director
Director Cedric Jimenez (The Man With The Iron Heart) is reportedly making some history with Studiocanal’s latest placement on upcoming crime thriller, Bac Nord. As Elsa Keslassy’s report at Variety notes, Gilles Lellouche (pictured) will lead the cast for a story centered on a police brigade that’s ventured into the dangerous northern neighborhood of Marseille, where crime levels are higher than anywhere else in France. Rounding out the cast is a roster of award-winning and nominated talent listing actors Francois Civil (Wolf’s Call) and Karim Leklou (The World Is Yours), and actresses Adele Exarchopoulos (Blue Is the Warmest Color) and Kenza Fortas (Shéhérazade). A Marseilles native, Jimenez co-penned the script in a collaborative effort with Audrey Diwan (The Connection, The Man With the Iron Heart) and Benjamin Charbit (En liberté!). StudioCanal Sells Rights To Classic Revenge Thriller FEAR IS THE KEY
With StudioCanal on hand at Cannes this past week, Deadline reports on one of their latest prospects – a revenge thriller that incidentally comes with a bit of a legacy attached. Enter producer Cassian Elwes whose stepfather served as executive producer of Michael Tuchner’s 1972 film, Fear Is The Key. More of a hit in Europe and now considered a classic as of late, the film is now the subject of a remake this past week according to Deadline who reports Elwes and producer Andre Gaines have acquired the rights to the film from its international sales agents at the Cannes market.
