“Every choice, every mission, has all led to this…”
“Every choice, every mission, has all led to this…”
The campaign has officially begun for next year’s release of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Paramount and Skydance are releasing the film on May 23 and the first official teaser and poster have made their debut with none other than Tom Cruise front and center on the artwork, and in the requisite action that’s kept the franchise going since 1996. The Christopher McQuarrie-directed second chapter to last year’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning continues the saga with Cruise going head to head with a looming A.I.-imbued threat backed by a terroristic zealot and his army. We see a little more of what that struggle now entails in the teaser culminating footage from previous films as well, as per the new installment’s tagline which reads “Our lives are the sum of our choices” …oof! Cruise also stars alongside Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, […]
In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most. I feel like at this point watching Tom Cruise run is very much like watching a car chase. The tone, pacing and energy it takes to emulate an action sequence akin to a mechanical vehicle is something Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie are amply good at, casting zero doubt at […]
Tom Cruise reprises the role 30 years later for a story of redemption where some unfinished business from the original film needs to be settled, making what at first sight seemed to be an unnecessary late sequel, in a wonderful continuation that with some nostalgic vibes, brings a product with own personality, regaining a way to understand cinema and entertainment that should never fade away, for a breathless ride of spectacular sequences and heartwarming sentiments that takes the breath away… Capturing the spirit of Tony Scott original film but moving forward looking its own path, the film brings back Maverick this time as the teacher of a young squad of promising youngsters assigned to a dangerous mission. A mission that will lead the path of a healing journey of redemption and reconciliation. IN A THEATRE NEAR YOU
As far as franchises go, Tom Cruise stands as one of the most successful and consistent stars of his time, having conquered the Mission: Impossible franchise as he continues even to up to this very day, global pandemic be damned. His latest installation in reunion with director Christopher McQuarrie, who’s been with the spy saga since its fifth chapter, Rogue Nation, now brings us the first official trailer subtitled fully as Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One. No synopsis or hint as to how this continuation coasleses after Fallout, just a two-minute visual sampler of what’s to come: more mystery, more intrigue, more action and suspense, more danger, more Tom defying death…and well, just…more. Voilà! Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Henry Czerny, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Charles Parnell, Greg Tarzan Davis, and Frederick Schmidt also star.
Paramount Pictures is still in the process of recalibrating its ongoing production on the next pair of Mission: Impossible films currently set for November 2021 and November 2022. Neither of these have anything to do with with actor Tom Cruise going into space for his latest project now said to be in development according to Mike Fleming Jr. at Deadline on Monday. The project is said to be an action thriller with the involvement of NASA, and Elon Musk’s Hawthorne-based Space X program. No story or cast/crew info is available as of yet with the report stating the project is in early development, and there’s no studio circulation as of yet. Indeed, Cruise is no Jackie Chan, but that hasn’t hindered him from the careful planning and rehearsals he does in going above and beyond the call of duty for stunts. Among other credits, the Mission Impossible franchise is highly […]
A sequel to 1986’s Top Gun was likely the most imminent direction for Hollywood at some point in the last thirty-three years despite how long its taken. To that effect, Tron: Legacy and Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski’s approach looks like it’ll fare pretty well come its June 26 release, and with none other than his Oblivion star Tom Cruise back in the starring, high-flying saddle once more in Top Gun: Maverick. After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of […]
It’s been quite the while since director Joseph Kosinski took to the helm with twice the Tom Cruise for futuristic sci-fi, Oblivion. They’re back together now and with San Diego Comic Con in full steam, the official teaser for Top Gun: Maverick is now here. The plot is largely a mystery though the general knowledge is that the iconic role of Maverick – played by Cruise since the 1986 film – will be an instructor in a technologically advanced world. Matt Donnelly at Variety quotes Cruise stating the following during the Hall H panel: “…to me, ‘Top Gun’ is about competition.” In the trailer shown, that sentiment is alive and well but its not about skilled pilots fighting against machines — this time, they’re battling drones.” Peter Craig, Justin Marks, and Eric Warren Singer penned the script. Rounding out the cast are Miles Teller and returning actor Val Kilmer, with […]
On Friday, Mike Fleming Jr. over at Deadline confirmed interest at Warner Bros. in a sequel to the 2014 hit sci-fi, Edge Of Tomorrow (a.k.a. Live. Die. Repeat for its home release). The film featured Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt in the story of an untrained public relations officer swept into a timeloop forcing him to re-live his death as he trains to survive amid an alien invasion. Based on Sakurazaka Hiroshi’s “All You Need Is Kill” manga, the film grossed $370.5 million dollars for the studio along with co-fi partner Village Roadshow. Talk of a sequel had since been stirring even through the press rounds for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation among others, while Deadline has it on good terms that a pitch by Matthew Robinson (The Invention Of Lying) is breathing new life into sequel prospects. Robinson will write the sequel following a draft by Joe Shrapnel and […]
They say “…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Well, invariably, in the case of Tom Cruise and Chris McQuarrie, it appears they’re not fixing shit after totaling near $1.5 billion dollars between the last two Mission: Impossible films. The past month and change have been much ado with the duo reuniting for another two installments after successfully garnering appeal from fans with Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Now dated for July 23, 2021 and August 5, 2022, the first of the two upcoming for the Mission octalogy is now confirming the return of actress Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa Faust who made her entry in the 2016 entry, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Faust’s debut in Rogue Nation showed her more than capable as Hunt’s equal on multiple occasions as her story unfolded going into Fallout. Other cast members remain pending, new or returning, though it’d be reasonable to see Ving Rhames […]
I’ll tell you right now…I absolutely hate the idea of reserved seating. It was ultimately what had me sitting at the very front row for my own viewing of Mission: Impossible – Fallout and it was quite unpleasant. At the very least though I was able to extrapolate whatever amount of enjoyment I could get out of director Christopher McQuarrie‘s latest contribution to the spy saga which, needless to say, has already demanded McQuarrie’s return for a third time since helming Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Indeed, there’s no question that actor Tom Cruise left virtually no stone unturned in making sure viewers got their money’s worth, and he’s got a healed ankle to prove it, among other things. Packed with epic sets and tremendous scope and scale as essential for a film of this caliber, Mission: Impossible has some of the best Hollywood action most movies will ever see; […]
One of the late Tony Scott’s biggest, most memorable film successes to date lives on 32 years later with production officially announced for Top Gun: Maverick. Actor Tom Cruise is back in the saddle reprising the lead role as elite Navy pilot, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, reuniting with none other than Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski at the helm for a story that sees our protagonists cope with the advancement of drone warfare over manned piloting. Official cast announcements from here on remain pending while fans can look forward to the film’s tonal similarity to the first as a “competition film”. Jerry Bruckheimer is back and producing from the 1986 original as will Cruise and David Ellison for Skydance. Top Gun composer, Harold Faltermeyer, is also returning to score. Cruise and his official PR shared a photo of the first day of filming which you can check out below and hold in […]
If the last Mission: Impossible installment proved nothing else, it proved that one of Paramount’s biggest franchises can deliver on even bigger terms each time. Now six films in with Mission: Impossible – FALLOUT, the latest chapter has more than revealed itself to be another highly anticipated sequel. The fact that its star, Tom Cruise, continues to delve further into death-defying stunts and to the point of injuring himself in the process speaks highly to how far he’ll go to entertain audiences. Whether or not the spectacle takes in a film that measures with critical approval remains to be seen, while in fairness, Christopher McQuarrie directed its predecessor themed Rogue Nation, which became the best in the series by far. Throw in Henry Cavill with cinema’s most infamous mustache – queuing the likelihood of another hilarious “Honest Trailers” jab from the cats at Screen Junkies and rest assured, this film […]
It’s Super Bowl Sunday, kids! And you know what that means: Loads of advertising, including movies for the year and most of which will suffice the blockbuster crowd. Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission Impossible: Fallout will be one such to prioritize as we approach its release with Tom Cruise shepherding the explosive action saga once. The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm. July 27 is the date and the official trailer is finally online to immerse yourself in the epic action, espionage and stuntwork in which our lead actor literally took an […]
The production of Christopher McQuarrie’s latest Tom Cruise headliner in the Mission Impossible saga has been a raucous endeavor, to say the least. An injured lead actor on more than one occasion can be a bit of a challenge on top of continuity issues per the studio’s need for Henry Cavill to maintain his mustache during the completion of last year’s Justice League. Still though and thankfully, all is stirring and steering forward for what it’s worth with the American Made star joined by Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames in addition to actress Rebecca Ferguson who blew the lid off with her energizing delivery for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation in 2015. All these and more now bring us to the latest official title debut and production still by way of Cruise hailing Mission Impossible: Fallout from Paramount and Skydance. Take a look below and mark your calendars for July 27! […]
By now you’ve probably seen the viral video of actor Tom Cruise injuring himself during a stunt on the Paris set of the sixth Mission Impossible film. Thankfully it hasn’t suffered tragedy currently being endured on two other known productions this summer, but it does exemplify the dangers stunt performers, and even bold actors face when pushing the envelope – something Cruise is known to do. Well… pushing it this time around has cost him, at least tentatively, sending the production into an eight-week hiatus, and producers into troubleshooting mode, according to sources reported by The Wrap. The injury in question occured when Cruise, wire rigged for a jump from one platform of a building to another, leapt too short and slammed his knees into the adjacent wall, forcing him to catch himself before trying and failing to continue the take in mid-limp. The goal now as producers weigh their […]
In a nutshell, this should have been a story of a girl who wanted power for herself and no one else. It would have made for a better story. Instead, we’re given a miasma of history from the introduction of the Knights Templar being buried with a stone from the hilt of an Ancient Egyptian dagger that was used in a magical ceremony by the Mummy herself (Sofia Boutella) and our cast of characters bent on its destruction. We’re literally buried by story strand after strand beginning with Dr. Henry Jekyll (Russell Crowe) taking over a newly discovered crypt during an Underground expansion in London where he stumbles onto hieroglyphs above a Templar burial and encapsulating the story of Ahmanet, the daughter of a Pharoah and her glory to be a powerful ruler of Egypt. Through her own devices, she makes a magical plea with the underworld ruler, Set, to […]
Having directed actor Tom Cruise for his 2013 outing in sci-fi actioner, Oblivion, some would say it would make sense to make him a candidate for the long-awaited sequel to the 1986 high-flying military drama, Top Gun. As such, it now seems to be the case according to a new exclusive report from Variety thus confirming. The news comes just a few days after Cruise laid it all out in a single quote telling Australian talk show Sunrise that it was “definitely happening”. The film itself had been in the works since around 2010 or earlier, then stifled by the subsequent suicidal tragedy of director Tony Scott who helmed the original film that propelled Cruise into Hollywood stardom as U.S. Fighter Pilot, LT. Pete Mitchell, call signed “Maverick”. Skydance CEO David Ellison and Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original, will produce with Cruise from a script recently penned by Justin […]
Filming is currently underway in France for writer and director Christopher McQuarrie’s latest installment with the sixth Mission: Impossible film for Paramount and Skydance. Given this, it’s likely that miscellaneous fan photos of the set would be discovered and as it turns out, there’s a whole viral batch of jubilant behind-the-scenes gems on Instagram with our cast on set, a few of which include and otherwise confirm actor and martial artist Joey Ansah. Details are currently unknown regarding Ansah’s role which otherwise pits him along with a raft of returning and new cast members led by Tom Cruise who can be seen in a recent Instagram fan photo from the set with Ansah whose acting credits partly include The Bourne Ultimatum, Scott Adkins-led martial arts thriller Green Street Hooligans: Underground, Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist and ITV series Beowulf: Return To The Shieldlands. Rounding out the cast are a returning and […]
Paramount/Skydance To say that there are some high hopes for the next installment of the Mission Impossible franchise would be an understatement. I reckon both returning lead actor Tom Cruise and writer/director Christopher McQuarrie have that covered planning some big stunt sequences having been planned in the past year, and they’ve now gone full speed ahead with production underway according to McQuarrie’s latest tweet below: Light the fuse… (photo @rdhardy) pic.twitter.com/kidurRcjpi — ChristopherMcQuarrie (@chrismcquarrie) April 8, 2017 Plot details remain unknown but the cast will have a mix of new and returning faces with Cruise joined by Rebecca Ferguson and Alec Baldwin from the hit fifth film, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, and actors Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner reprising from previous installments; Roles attributed to actor Henry Cavill, and actresses Vanessa Kirby and Sian Brooke remain to be detailed, and with more casting news ahead. Cruise is proucing with Don […]
