There are two guarantees in life: one is that we’ll all one day fall off this mortal coil and the other is that we will get at least three shark movies a year. Xavier Gens (Farang, Gangs of New York) is the newest director to tackle aquatic predators and it looks like this one will please genre fans. Starring Bérénice Bejo (The Artist) and Nassim Lyes (Farang), UNDER PARIS focuses on a deadly shark swimming the rivers of Paris during the World Triathlon Championships (how convenient!). Bejo plays Sophia, a scientist, who must team up with a local activist and the Seine River Police Commander to combat the finned, French fiend. Under Paris hits Netflix on June 5th. In my head at least, it always used to be that the trailers would come and would sell the movie normally prior to whatever box office results would occur. Nowadays, trailers themselves are headlining events at specific venues, whether its online, on a certain T.V. show, or the like. In my opinion, it feels tedious and a bit overhyped, but that’s the route studios are going for these days. Aside from anything revelant to the etymology of the character from the original comics by creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, director Jonathan Liebesman‘s forthcoming iteration of the classic villain in his new film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will center on actor William Fichtner‘s portrayal of Eric Sachs, a doctor who apparently worked with reporter April O’Neil’s father to, as he puts it, “create heroes”. Just days away from the November 22, 2013 domestic release of director Kenneth Bi‘s intense new psychological action thriller, Control, netizens now get to go behind the scenes with four new featurettes courtesy of Filmsmash. The clips showcase a number of things, including some of what it took to create some of the stunning visuals to grant the film’s futuristic setting. No English subs here though, but it should make for a nice viewing for those interested. A new trailer is now online with new info on the upcoming feature film from writer/producer/director Conor Allyn, JAVA HEAT. A new poster has gone viral this week for the upcoming Japan April 26, 2013 premiere of the new Takashi Miike film from Warner Bros. Japan, Shield Of Straw. The film is executive produced Seiji Okuda, Hiroyoshi Koiwai, produced by Misako Saka, Maeda Shigeji, and written by Tamio Hayashi, based on a 2004 crime novel by Kazuhiro Kiuchi. It stars Takao Osawa (Sky High, Goemon) and Nanako Matsushima (The Ring) as detectives from the Fukuoka Prefectural Police who are hired to protect a murder suspect played by Tatsuya Fujiwara (Battle Royale) when he discovers a 1 billion yen bounty on his head by the victim’s grandfather, a powerful figure in the financial world. The new trailer for currently titled “Bụi Đời Chợ Lớn” (or Chợ Lớn – formerly titled “Chinatown Gangs”) from the team that brought you “Clash” and “The Rebel”. Produced by Jimmy Pham Nghiem and directed by Charlie Nguyen, Bụi Đời Chợ Lớn is described as an epic gangster story that takes place in a town in Saigon, regarding the complex relationships between four main characters played by Johnny Trí Nguyễn (who is also serving as action director), Hoàng Phúc, Long Điền and Hà Hiền. The film also stars Huỳnh Bích Phương, Hoàng Phi and Nhung Kate and will see a wide release in Vietnam on April 19, 2013.
