This past weekend was huge in cultural events: the Super Bowl was played (and Tom Brady was not in it!), there was a hip-hoppin’ halftime show full of some of my favorite artists, and there was a healthy helping of geek culture served in the form of some awesome trailers. SPUTNIK Trailer: Your Next Favorite Space Horror Film

Space travel has its own sense of wonder: exploring the unknown, going where no man (person) has ever gone before, and finding out if we’re really alone in the universe. It’s all fun and games and excitement — until it isn’t. Russian director Egor Abramenko’s first feature film Sputnik takes viewers to space and back and promises to be full of chills from fear, not excitement. According to Screenanarchy, the …story revolves around a young doctor called in by the military to evaluate a cosmonaut returned from a mission under unusual circumstances … and let’s just say he didn’t exactly return alone. There are no subtitles in the trailer, but you can tell what is going on based on the visuals and the facial expressions. The threat and fear are clearly conveyed. Check it out here: Ooh. Promo Art for Marvel’s ANT-MAN Trailer teasers are a pain in the ass. The first one has been out for a while now ahead of the upcoming release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron. This one gets off a little lighter though because we’ve already seen a few trailers, and no doubt several more trailers and T.V. spots will be forthcoming to help set the tone being this is one of the biggest and highly anticipated sequels yet. It’s still frustrating though, but not as frustrating as the new Ant-Man trailer announcement just beneath. January 17, 2014 is the day that sees Universal Pictures’ latest pairing of actors Kevin Hart and 22 Jumpstreet co-star Ice Cube in the upcoming buddy action thriller, Ride Along. Directed by Tim Story, Ride Along features Hart and Cube in classic action comedy fashion in the story of a cop who reluctantly brings his sister’s boyfriend on a ride along to test his mettle and and prove his worthiness to marry his sister. The film is already poised for a sequel ahead of the film’s release, granted the film does well, of course. GODZILLA Goes International With A TV Spot, Trailer And New Poster Art

Following the unveiling of the North American trailer for director Gareth Edwards‘s forthcoming sci-fi action adventure monster epic, Godzilla, it was also made known that Japanese distributors Toho would be showcasing the film as well in Japan, where it all started. As such, two spots have already gone viral with a trailer and television promo for the film set to release in 2D and 3D on May 16, 2014, with Warner Bros. distributing in North America and other territories. A trailer has been newly featured for an upcoming film called Borderland. The film is a new martial arts action movie produced by Aeternalis Films and the Bey Logan-owned B&E Productions, the same company behind the upcoming film, Fist Of The Dragon.
