Streaming Sleepers: Bloody Knuckles Lace The Growing Pains Of Yoo Ha’s ONCE UPON A TIME IN HIGH SCHOOL: THE SPIRIT OF JEET KUNE DO

Indeed one of Korean cinema’s best contributions to coming-of-age dramas has to be writer and director Yu Ha’s third feature directorial outing, Once Upon A Time In High School: The Spirit Of Jeet Kune Do starring Kwon Sang-woo who made his debut opposite Jang Hyuk in Volcano High (2001). The movie is a story of boyhood, bloody knuckles and Bruce Lee worship set in the 70s and I first learned about this film back many years ago when I was a HKFlix customer. Streaming Sleepers: Upi Avianto’s SRI ASIH: THE WARRIOR Now Available On Tubi

I’m holding out for a Blu-ray grab of director Upi Avianto’s latest Bumilangit dibs with Sri Asih: The Warrior. In the meantime, the film quietly rolled out on the free ad-supported platform, Tubi where you can now check out the successor to Joko Anwar’s BCU launchpad that was Gundala in 2019. Based on R.A. Kosasih’s 1954 comic, actress Pevita Pearce stars in the title role of Avianto’s iteration as an MMA fighter destined for greatness as a force of evil threatens the city. Stunt professional Lee Whittaker’s feature directing debut previously known as Aimee now arrives as a Tubi Original with the announcement of rescue action thriller, The Vigilante. Set to stream on the free and ad-supported platform beginning September 8, the film stars Jet Jandreau along with Jamie M. Timmons, Paul Bond, Julien Cesario and Laur Allen. Streaming Sleepers: Make A Run For RÒM, Now On Tubi!

Here’s another delightful streaming surprise for ya: Ròm, from debut director Tran Thanh Huy is now streaming on Tubi. I caught this as a recommendation by a mutual tending to duties for the 19th New York Asian Film Festival back in 2020. Tran Anh Khoa stars in the title role opposite Nguyen Phan Anh Tu in Huy’s often kinetic, bustling urban survival drama, about a 14 year old orphan on borrowed time as he’s forced to square off against rivaling numbers runners amid Ho Chi Minh City’s illegal underground lotto network.
