Decades afrer his father’s successful book series took hold with the masses, actor Vino G. Bastian is ready to put his stamp on fandom in 2018 with Angga D. Sasongko’s new film, Wiro Sableng 212. Lifelike Pictures and Fox International Production officially released the newest trailer on Saturday signaling an August 30 local theatrical release, moving up from its previously-expected September date.
Instantly, Friday’s campaign kick-off with the official teaser trailer for Angga D. Sasongko’s latest, Wiro Sableng, delivered hard and heavy courtesy of a certain merc-with-a-mouth. It’s certainly an inviting feat apart from what we now get with an official international teaser trailer for the masses abroad as starring actor Vino G. Bastian readies to hit screens this August from 20th Century Fox and Lifelike Pictures.
The countdown begins as we approach a September release of Angga D. Sasongko’s latest, Wiro Sableng, taken from the pages of the long celebrated action adventure novel saga from author Bastian Tito whose son, actor Vino G. Bastian, now stakes his claim in the title role.
The story itself is set in the 16th century and centured on an axe-wielding hero of legend who accrues a number of skills on his adventures. Plot details are unclear as to which areas of the novels are the film’s focus, but we’ve since garnered a teaser as of December and in kind, our first volley of poster art is now making the rounds from Lifelike Pictures and 20th Century Fox.
Bastian leads the trio of ink below in addition to actress Sherina Munaf and actor Fariz Alfarazi. Rounding out the cast are Marsha Timothy, Lukman Sardi, Rifnu Wikana, Dwi Sasono, Marcella Zalianty, Marcell Siahaan, Happy Salma, Yayan Ruhian, Ruth Marini, Yayu Unru and action fan favorite Cecep Arief Rahman with Dian Sidik, Yusuf Mahardika, and Aghniny Haque also starring.
Jackie Chan stunt veteran, action director Chan Man Ching shepherds the fightfare along with fight choreographer Yayan Ruhian who also co-stars.

As we speak, filming is already underway for Angga D. Sasongko’s latest directorial outing, Wiro Sableng 212 following its announcement back in February. Actor Vino G. Bastian is starring in the title role inspired by the 185-part series of martial arts novels from Bastian’s father, author Bastian Tito, which also spawned a television series.
Plot details are scant while it is known that the story is set in 16th century Indonesia, centered on the numerically-marked, multi-gifted ax-wielding hero of legend, Wiro Sableng, who accumulates a number of striking abilities in his adventures. Official casting updates were made last week addition to actresses Sherina Munaf and Marsha Timothy, and Yayan Ruhian (The Raid, The Raid 2, Beyond Skyline) choreographing the cinematic fight fare with Jackie Chan stunt team vet Chan Man Ching, serving as action director.
The film marks the first Indonesian endeavor for Fox International Pictures in its partnership with Lifelike Pictures, both which will pair for its local release. Producer Sheila Timothy and scribes Tumpal Tampubolon and Seno Gumira Ajidarma adapted the screenplay with Fox International consultant and former Fortissimo Films chair Michael J. Werner serving as executive producer.
The production just rolled out its first on-set diary and BTS glimpse as cameras roll ahead of an expected 2018 release, and with a few noticeable faces from the cast and crew in full view, including Ruhian midway through the second video. Actress Sherina Munaf will also star as will Bastian’s wife and cast member, actress Marsha Timothy, with action sequences by Yayan Ruhian and a script by Sheila Timothy and scribes Tumpal Tampubolon and Seno Gumira Ajidarma. Ruhian and Timothy last appeared in the respective roles of restrained couple, Prakoso and Dwi, in Gareth Evans’s The Raid 2.
