RUINER Lands Director For Universal Adaptation Of Hit Game

The next few years will be interesting to observe as video game fans now take to filmmaker Wes Ball to satiate their need to opine. The Maze Runner trilogy helmer and the man who would have shepherded the long-awaited Mouse Guard is now on board to direct Ruiner, based on the latest cyberpunk action adventure game from Reikon Games. The news comes long after the director’s name was attached for a live-action iteration of Nintendo’s “The Legend Of Zelda” last November. Variety’s Angelique Jackson reports that Ball will direct from a script by Michael Arlen Ross (upcoming Locked) for Universal. 87North’s Kelly McCormick and David Leitch are producing as will, Story Kitchen’s Dmitri M. While I myself haven’t been hugely familiar with James Dashner’s books and as saturated as some PG-13 actioners tend to leave me feeling from time to time, the Maze Runner trilogy gets my respect. Wes Ball To Direct Kickstarter-Funded Novel, FALL OF GODS

Director Wes Ball is leaving quite the impression these past few years with his main focus tentatively on the on-going Maze Runner saga as the second film, The Scorch Trials, gears up for its release next month. As such, Fox is determined to have him in the director’s chair once more, it seems, in lieu of plans to adapt Norse epic, Fall Of Gods. Fox has acquired the rights to the Danish-published graphic novel initially conceived at MOOD Studios on Denmark by way of crowdfunding via Kickstarter.
