TOKYO TRIBE Gets A U.S. Trailer For Its October Theatrical Release!

Director Sono Sion broke the mold with last year’s successful run of the hit action hip hop musical, Tokyo Tribe. Despite a few visible differences between the film and manga author Santa Inoue’s 1997-2005 publication on which the film is based, the fervor has grown immensely with key performances channeled by debut actor and hip-hop artist Young Dais, and actors Suzuki Ryohei, Seino Nana, Sometani Shota and Takeuchi Riki to name a few on top of the action and visual spectacle that ensued. This, coupled with Inoue’s absolute involvement in a forthcoming television series adaptation with producer Patrick S. Long celebrated as a film festival favorite since its release last year, director Sono Sion‘s latest induction, Tokyo Tribe has grown into a phenomemal hit with movielovers and festivalgoers with reviews that have been nothing short of electric. With this, the film has earned a place among fans who follow manga lore as one of the best examples of adapting a live-action work of any graphic novel, which has been more than rewarding for those behind this latest gem. TOYKO TRIBE Debuts The Music Video For Its Official Anthem, "HOPE"

There’s still plenty of room between now and August 30 when Nikkatsu gives director Sono Sion‘s latest film, Tokyo Tribe, its big screen live-action debut. The film is being billed as “the world’s first hip-hop battle rap musical” as indicated by the latest trailer which aired earlier this month, and this week, the film’s feature single, “Hope”, is now available in Japan, in accordance with the film’s new music video which you can now watch below courtesy of Warner Bros. Japan. “Hope” is performed by the film’s main lead debut actor, hip-hop recording artist Young Dais, along with Simon, Y’s and AI. Japan cinema goers are a month and a half away from the release of director Sono Sion‘s new live-action manga adaptation Tokyo Tribe, and the full action-packed trailer has just arrived courtesy of Nikkatsu offering a better glimpse into what Sono‘s vision of author Santa Inoue’s universe looks like on screen. And if the new trailer is any indication, it looks like Sono is going the route of part fantasy gangster thriller spectacle, part hip-hop musical, with lead debut actor Young Dais and actor Shota Sometani kicking things off with a few rhymes of their own. It’s pretty safe to say that anyone who is remotely familiar with director Sono Sion are eager to check out the chaos that awaits Japan screens for his new live-action contribution to manga author Santa Inoue for Tokyo Tribe. It is easily one of the most highly anticipated films of this summer by its niche and if anything, the reactions to the film’s initial teaser are proof of that. Japanese news sites have begun circulating the now-viral first promotional still for the upcoming live-action manga adaptation, Toyko Tribe. Directed by Why Don’t You Play In Hell helmer Sono Sion, the new futuristic urban action gangster thriller is based on manga author Santa Inoue’s 1993 publication and subsquent TV series, with the first photo arriving just a little over a year after the film was announced last Spring prior to a casting call through YouTube.
