Warner Bros. Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two. The film reboots the classic sci-fi from director David Lynch, now in the provenly capable hands of director Denis Villeneuve following the first film’s hit 2021 release. “Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee. The sci-fi property is based on Frank Herbert’s “Dune” novel series which has multiple issues. Cameras are now rolling in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Italy for Dune: Part Two, according to an announcement on Monday. Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve is back to direct the second installment following the film’s critical and commercial acclaim from its release last year, taking six Academy Award wins including Bests in visual effects and for composer Hans Zimmer’s original score. Hailing from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment, Dune: Part Two sees Villeneuve directing from a script he co-wrote with Jon Sphaits, continuing his adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller. The film centers on the interplanetary upheaval over spice on the desert planet, Arrakis, wherein the fate of Paul Atreides, the noble son of the House Of Atreides, will be decided as a war looms between an evil Baron and the warrior dwellers of Arrakis. David Lynch may have his own thoughts about the finalized version of his own original 1984 adaptation of the titular Frank Herbert novel, Dune. That hasn’t really hindered it from etching a place among the fandom in sci-fi history as one of the most celebrated movies to date, and as such, fans now get to see if the newest revisal from director Denis Villeneuve will stand the test of time from Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is currently set to release in theaters beginning Decemeber 18, and thus, the first official trailer is now up and running for you to check out above. I grew pretty fatigued in the months before and after Sony’s 2014 attempt at a summer sequel with Marvel wall crawler, Spider-Man, and before I go any further, I still am, sort of. All of the tedious energy it takes to cover comic book movies – from micro updates on images to casting announcements and confirmations is why I largely don’t cover comic book movies as much as I’d like to, and especially with all of the developments there were at the time for actor Andrew Garfield’s succession into battling the Sinister Six along with the studio’s further push for a possible female Spider-man project in the works.
