THE ASSISTANT Trailer: Hairul Azreen’s Darker Side Comes To Life In Adrian Teh’s Explosive New Revenge Thriller
It’s a new day as you’re reading this, and of course, any day is as good as today if you’re already familiar with the work of filmmaker Adrian Teh. If not, and you just so happen to have Netflix, then by all means – flip that bastard on and check out Teh’s previous 2018 naval thriller, Paskal, and 2019’s hard-hitting Wira, both featuring leading man Hairul Azreen who’s been on a mission of sorts to help put a face on Malaysian action cinema, and bring its appeal to the forefront of today’s market next to other territories.
The actor dives in on this topic and much more in the latest read over at online mag, The Star, where the most recent trailer just debuted for Teh’s newest action thriller, The Assistant, which hails from Sony Pictures International Malaysia. Opening in TGV Cinemas on March 10, The Assisstant joins Azreen in his latest push for the genre next to lead actor Iedil Dzuhrie from a script by Teh and co-writer Chi-Ren Choong, about an innocent ex-convict whose resolve to avenge his family is put to the ultimate test through an unexpected partnership with a man that could either make… or break him.
I’m especially intrigued as this particular trailer definitely teases a much different side to Azreen than what some of us have seen in his previous work. This character is much more menacing, and it definitely brings some vitality and interest to what The Assistant offers here.
Also starring are Henley Hii and Farali Khan. Put this one in your notes going forward, and keep an eye out for Azreen as well, given that he’s been spotted in the UK recently. He’s not resting on his laurels, I reckon.
