One of the things I purely enjoy about Dev Patel deals inherently in that I’ve always felt there was an untapped potential. Undoubtedly he’s proven himself time and again, and I guess that’s the beauty of it we’re seeing as we look forward to A24’s newest dark medieval fantasy epic, The Green Knight. There’s heavy drama, compelling visuals and a few morsels of action I could go for here, and I know Patel definitely has it in him.
An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, ‘The Green Knight’ tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger.
David Lowery directs a cast that joins Patel with Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Barry Keoghan, and Ralph Ineson. The film opens July 30.
