If you haven’t quite pegged down what to watch in 2019 just yet, don’t hesitate to add Im Kyung-taek’s Older Sister (or the more keener-sounding Sister) to the list. This jewel is hitting the ground running on January 1 in South Korea, almost as fast as The Divine Move actress Lee Si-young who, per the plot, sets out to settle with her dark past whilst avenging her missing sister who has been “abandoned by the world”.
There’s a lot that can be drawn from that part of the story and so at least the newest trailer delves into that aspect just a little more – enough to give you a sensory idea about the gravity of sympathy needed to cheer on our heroine. Add on the sight of watching as she lays waste to every dark and dank corner of the underworld in a red dress and donning her deadly skillset, and at one point a fucking sledge hammer, and we’re bound to get our ticket and DVD money’s worth.
