Tony Zhou Presents: 9 PRINCIPLES OF ACTION COMEDY
Film enthusiast and vlogger (and clearly a Jackie Chan fan) Tony Zhou took the liberty of hosting a new video on his YouTube channel attributed to the acclaimed master of action cinema himself titled 9 Principles Of Action Comedy. Citing over a dozen of Chan‘s classics, Zhou delineates the many ways and reasons why Chan‘s evolutionary style of action choreography and cinematography works compared to many of Hollywood’s approaches to the craft. Many would agree with a lot of the points here, and it’s a subject that has inspired many other action fans, actors and filmmmakers alike to help spread the gospel of action filmmaking.
For what its worth, not only is it one of the most clear and thought-out video essays dealing with the matter, it’s also a hell of a video to see, and it’s probably the best thing you’ll see on the internet before the year is out. Do enjoy, and be sure to check out an extension of Zhou‘s work by visiting his page over at Patreon.
