UNDISPUTED V: Scott Adkins Teases A Script That’s “Really Good!”
Actor Scott Adkins took to fan questions over at Well Go USA Entertainment’s Hi-YAH! YouTube channel on Wednesday in the first of two videos to come. The first question pertained to whether or not a fifth installment of the award-winning Undisputed franchise would be on the way.
“There is a script out there, and I’ve read it, and it’s good, and I like it. It’s really good, actually.” said Adkins. “But we gotta convince those producers to be up for it, so start hounding them guys.”
The post-1996 Undisputed sequels helmed by Isaac Florentine saw Adkins take the mantle for a slew of direct-to-home releases featuring the role of incarcerated Ukranian MMA stylist, Uri Boyka, heralded as a champion of the underground prison fighting circuit. The fourth installment, helmed by Todor Chapkanov, saw the character out of prison and on the verge of a career comeback when after killing his opponent in the ring, he eagerly finds himself repenting for his opponent’s widow, effectively by competing for her freedom from a criminal Russian syndicate.
In 2017, Adkins attended MCM Expo in London where the topic also came up and insisted fans legally buy the fourth installment to help generate support for a fifth venture. It would be a few years later, however, that news out of Cannes would bring word of a televised continuation via producers at Millenium and London-based Empire films that would have filmed the following year in 2020.
Evidently the show hasn’t come to pass and talk of any more sequels remained short-lived until this latest update, so if there’s any life left for another installment, hopefully this won’t be the last we hear of the hype.
Hi-YAH! is currently streaming Florentine’s Close Range starring Adkins, as well as the actor’s 2017 action thriller, Savage Dog and 2019’s Triple Threat from director Jesse V. Johnson.
Adkins is also in post-production on the upcoming sequel to his inaugural graphic novel adapation of Accident Man, now from directors George and Harry Kirby in their feature directing debut. The official title was revealed on the star’s monitor in the background with the words Accident Man: Hitman’s Holiday emblazoned with what could be the backdrop of Malta where the film was filmed.
