UPDATE (1:38pm EST): The official Facebook page for Millennium Studios updated the context of its post in a comment a few hours ago stating Hiddleston would be in town for the production of director Marc Abraham’s new Hank Williams pic, I Saw The Light, while expressing interest in seeing him go toe-to-toe with Stallone. Maybe so. We’ll just have to wait and see.
UPDATE (7:44am EST): It appears Millenium Studios deleted their original post.
EARLIER REPORT:
The official Facebook page for Millennium Studios appears to be the go-to place for all things happening withRambo V as of late. It was less than a week ago that the page announced it would begin filming the movie a little later this year in Shreveport, Lousiana, with action star Sylvester Stallone returning for the role. Details are still pending, but now those details may also pertain to the possible addition of actor Tom Hiddleston.
According to the Millennium Studios page, Hiddleston, most popularly known for his electrifying portrayal as the classic supervillain, Loki in Marvel’s Thor, The Avengers and Thor 2: The Dark World, has been announced for a yet-to-be-disclosed role for the new Rambo installation from Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla Films. Stallone is expected to reprise his role as the title character who crosses the U.S./Mexico border to rescue a girl kidnapped by The Cartel.
Stallone also reportedly wrote the screenplay which is said to be described as his version of the 2007 crime drama, No Country For Old Men, according to a written synopsis from Germany rights holder, Splendid Films, back in June. The news also comes just a day after Hiddleston was reported to be up for the lead role in Wanted helmer Timur Bekmembatov’s new biblical epic reboot, Ben Hur, which is set to release on February 26, 2016, from MGM and Paramount.
Rambo V is due next year. In the meantime, Stallone and his mixture of older and younger heroes are lined up to take on Mel Gibson for this weekend’s release of The Expendables 3 from director Patrick Hughes.
Stay tuned for more updates as this is news breaking throughout the day.
