CATALYST Trailer Looks Into The Worst Among Us

Christopher Folkens’ debut feature film, Catalyst, had its premiere over the weekend at the Regal LA Live Theaters in downtown Los Angeles during the Downtown LA Film Festival. The official trailer is currently making the rounds with more information on its screening schedules and release pending. The film stars Michael Roark “as Alek, a man seeking revenge after he finds the priest who abused him as a child. After confronting that priest, Alek is abducted by a mysterious organization known only as “The Collective” and pulled into a series of psychological trials along with six other men. The men soon find out they have every reason to hate each other based on their dark pasts. As the mystery behind their captivity unfolds, they must decide their path: choose one of them to die, or discover another way out to save them all.” Also starring are Noel Gugliemi, Patrick Kilpatrick, David Bianchi and Melanie Liburd.

Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz took to social media to address Friday’s exciting news update pertaining to Sony Pictures’ upcoming slate, which so happens to include a new film installment for the Karate Kid franchise in 2024, as reported by multiple trade outlets. The news on Friday spawned mixed but curious reactions from fans of the franchise, including hit Netflix series Cobra Kai, which is now streaming its fifth season. The guys and I would love to make Karate Kid and Cobra Kai movies and hope to someday. But this one isn’t from us or focused on the Cobra Kai cast. Don’t know much about it, but wish it well. The trades are reporting and confirming the news as it will reunite the Hunger Games director with his star, actor Keanu Reeves, who will once again reprise his role based on the DC Comics property. Fans riding the Cobra Kai wave of the Karate Kid fandom of late will be thrilled to know that Sony Pictures has dated a new movie to be released on June 7, 2024. The news comes through an announcement of dates listed for upcoming features from the studio, including Madame Web, Kraven The Hunter, and Garfield, to name a few. Production on the film would mark 40 years since John G. Avildsen’s inaugural 1984 award-winning martial arts drama classic, The Karate Kid, starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka as high school rivals forced to settle their differences in the All Valley Karate Tournament. THE BEEKEEPER: Cameras Roll On The New Jason Statham Action Thriller

KFTV has word that production in London has begun on The Beekeeper, from director David Ayer (Bright, Sabotage) and starring Jason Statham (Fast And Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw). The film marks a reunion for the action star with MGM following their previous involvement on Guy Ritchie revenge thriller, Wrath Of Man, with the company acquiring the film for U.S. distribution as of late last month. Ayer directs the film from a script by Kurt Wimmer, which “centres on one man’s campaign for vengeance – a quest that has very high stakes as he is revealed to have been associated with a secretive and powerful organisation known as ‘The Beekeepers’. Pic hails from Ayer’s Cedar Park Entertainment whose Chris Long is producing next to Miramax’s Bill Block, and with Statham also producing.

Every day is a good day when a Max Zhang action thriller makes headlines. This time, we get one for a trailer for Wolf Pack marking Zhang’s return to the brand once more after the enormous hit that was Master Z: Ip Man Legacy and explosive crime thriller, The Brink. While seeking answers about his father’s suspicious death, a tactically trained physician infiltrates a mercenary group and soon uncovers a dangerous international conspiracy that could threaten the lives of millions of civilians. Considering the film’s previous title was “Career As A Mercenary,” the premise above definitely coheses things a little more. Michael Chiang directs the film joining Zhang with Cold War and Cold War 2 co-star Aarif Lee and Undercover vs. Undercover and God Of War co-star Jiang Luxia for the film’s theatrical release on September 30.

If you’re still riding the fandom of all things Blade Runner in the last five years since Denis Villeneuve made landfall with his Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford starrer, then you’ll be pleased to know that a sequel series at Amazon has been officially greenlit, according to trades on Thursday.
