LAYERS OF LIES: Bloody Knuckles And High-Flying Action Laid Out In The First Official Teaser For Ramin Sohrab’s Debut

Screen Anarchy‘s Todd Brown unveiled on Tuesday the first official teaser for Layers Of Lies, the long-awaited milestone feature debut for Finnish-Iranian actor, martial artist and filmmaker Ramin Sohrab. Filming began early on in 2018 as Sohrab had already ramped up his profile a bit through a number of screen credits, in addition to spectacular demo reels and cuts of his shortfilms showcasing what he can do. With Layer Of Lies, he gets to do all of it and much more, starring as well as producing, and directing from a script he wrote with Chris Larsen (Dearest Sister, The Long Walk) who he added to the project later on as co-writer, according to the initial report. THE PILOT Takes Off This Spring On Disc And Digital From Well Go USA

Well Go USA is raking in the latest World War II epic from director Renat Davletyarov (The Dawns Here Are Quiet) with The Pilot. The film stars Pyotr Fyodorov (Sputnik, The Icebreaker, The Duelist), Anna Peskova (Good Boy), Pavel Osadchy, Maksim Emelyanov (The Blackout, The Search) and Nikoloz Paikridze. Based on a true story: in 1941, a Russian WWII pilot crash-lands deep in enemy territory. Seriously injured, he must battle hunger, extreme cold, and wild animals—all while evading Nazi soldiers—if he is ever to make it home alive. Well Go USA will release The Pilot on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD from March 1, with bonus features including an English dub.

Netflix stepped up to the podium on Wednesday to bolster its Korean slate for the year, announcing a total of as many as twenty-four projects in film, TV and unscripted K-content. There’s definitely a few that have our attention, first out of three film titles in particular which includes Confessions Of Murder and The Villainess helmer Jung Byung-gil’s upcoming Netflix original film, Carter, announced last March by the streamer with actor Joo Won (SBS series Alice, KBS2 drama Good Doctor, SBS series Yong-Pal) starring as a top agent who awakens with amnesia and is thrust into the mission of a lifetime. FREELANCE: Actor Juan Pablo Reba Joins Action Comedy From ‘Peppermint’ Director

Taken, Peppermint and District B13 helmer Pierre Morel is shooting action comedy Freelance this week in Colombia, and joining the headlining duo of John Cena and Alison Brie is actor Juan Pablo Raba (Peppermint, “Narcos”). The film is being co-financed by Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios along with Endurance Media, whose Steve Richards is producing alongside Sentient Entertainment’s Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin. Penned by Jacob Lentz (“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”) in his feature writing debut, Freelance follows a special forces operator (Cena) who decides to retire from the Army and start a family back in the states. MOON KNIGHT: Oscar Isaac Is Chaos Unleashed In The Official Teaser Trailer

Undoubtedly one of the biggest factors of the hype behind actor Oscar Isaac’s move toward Marvel with upcoming series, Moon Knight, was a training video shown on social media at a gym somewhere in NYC during pre-production. It’s even more enticing now as we segue into a new chapter of the Marvel television and film universe with the unveiling of the teaser trailer and poster. Moon Knight is a new globetrotting action-adventure series featuring a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. The multiple identities who live inside him find themselves thrust into a deadly war of the gods against the backdrop of modern and ancient Egypt. Moon Knight is directed by Mohamed Diab and will stream exclusively on Disney+ from March 30. Ethan Hawke, Gaspard Ulliel and May Calamawy also star.

THE BRICKLAYER: Aaron Eckhart Actioner Builds Toward March Shoot From Millenium Media

Renny Harlin is set to direct action thriller The Bricklayer, casting Aaron Eckhart in the latest update since the project began brewing ten years ago as a Gerard Butler vehicle, according to Deadline’s Andreas Wiseman on Friday. Production is set to commence in March at Millenium Media’s new Nu Boyana Studios’ locations in Greece and Bulgaria. Harlin will direct from a script by Hannah Weg (Septembers of Shiraz) and Matt Johnson (Into the Blue) which sees Eckhart as a brilliant – but rebellious – former CIA operative reluctantly lured out of retirement when the agency finds itself blamed for the recent assassinations of foreign journalists, forcing him to confront his checkered past while unraveling an international conspiracy. Deaf Crocodile Shells Out A Trio Of Restored Russian And Finnish Classics Re-Releasing In The U.S. This Summer

Deaf Crocodile and Seagull Films are pairing up to release a trio of celebrated classic titles, all new 4K and 2K restorations, in select theaters, on digital and blu-ray starting this summer, and first on the roster brings us a trailer for Aleksandr Ptushko’s 1956 epic, Ilya Muromets (The Sword And The Dragon) which you can view above. The move is part of an ongoing “Russian Fantastika” collection, with Deaf Crocodile’s partner Grasshopper Films shepherding digital and OCN/Vinegar Syndrome for Blu-ray release. Ever since actor Robert Bronzi came on the scene, there’s always been the obvious fascination with his likeness to that of late actor Charles Bronson which seems to be the driving force for his popularity. Contrarily however, that shouldn’t always be the case. The first time I saw Bronzi was in Rene Perez’s gratuitious gritty thriller, Death Kiss. My thoughts on the film itself aside, the actor is completely dubbed which all but takes away from the experience of seeing what Bronzi can really do, which something I’m at least thankful for when it comes to this aspect of what directing duo Scott Jeffery and Rebecca Matthews’s deliver own thriller, The Gardener. Spring will be looking up for actor and filmmaker Jordan Cann as he looks to grow his latest bit of indie film fare, The Elementals with more episodes to be filmed. In the meantime, The sci-fi action webseries is currently streaming its first episode starring Cann who writes and directs alongside Eric Federman. A science fiction series about a superhuman race of people called “The Elementals” that are ordered to fight in an annual tournament organized by government leaders until they revolt and cause an uprising against the human race. JUGANDO CON FUEGO Official Trailer Sees Robert Samuels On A Mission Of Vengeance

The newest official trailer for Nicholas Ortiz’s latest short, Jugando Con Fuego, had an exclusive presentation the other evening over at The Movie Dojo on YouTube and we’re happy to share it here. The film marks yet another reunion with actor and martial arts legend Robert Samuels who stars in the project opposite actor and stunt performer Hector Soria who plays the villain, who previously shared the set with Samuels on Joey Min’s 2019 action feature debut comedy, Yes, Auntie!. Jugando Con Fuego was filmed on location in Mexico with Ortiz directing from a script produced by Samuels’ R4 Films LLC partner Robert Jefferson. I’ve actually yet to catch up on my fill of K-dramas since wrapping up Squid Game and then having to deal with all sorts of life-as-I-know-it-isms coming into the latter end of ’21 into ’22. With that in mind, Netflix insists on thrilling the shit out of us with more epic sci-fi content out of South Korea now in the form of Black Knight, whose confirmed lead cast currently lists Kim Woo-bin (Master), Esom (Samjin Company English Class) and Kang Yoo-seok (tvN drama Start-Up). Collider exclusively presented the official trailer for Travis Taute’s new thriller, Indemnity, and now we’re proud to help share the word on its pending day-and-date release on February 11 from Magnet Releasing. A traumatized ex-firefighter in Cape Town wakes up next to his wife’s murdered corpse, with no recollection of what transpired. Labelled as the prime suspect, he goes on the run and is soon hunted by a notorious police chief, and an unknown third party. He must now fight for his life and find out who killed his wife, before a conspiracy changes the course of a nation forever. Rather, Ghanaian director and actor Pascal Aka wanted to ride out the momentum of the festival circulation for his latest pic, Gold Coast Lounge, and so we held off until further notice, although the omnious factor of the then-forthcoming Coronavirus pandemic was something neither of us could have predicted.
