It feels so timely that I’ve only just seen actor Mackenyu Arata’s most recent performance in the fourth installment of the Rurouni Kenshin saga. If you ask me, considering he’s the one cast for the lead role in what looks to be a bolstering international debut with Tomasz Baginski’s Saint Seiya treatment, Knights Of The Zodiac, I’d say Baginski is in good hands. The new movie is produced Toei and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, and just wrapped filming in Croatia and Hungary with Arata joined by Madison Iseman, Famke Janssen, Sean Bean, Diego Tinoco, along with Nick Stahl and action star Mark Dacascos. Just thought I’d catch up for all those currently initiated with obscure Asian film lore. This one, Patriot: Selamatkan Indonesia, is a humble superhero action thriller only in short form but nonetheless boasts an assuring concept between its July teaser as well as its first-look stills currently floating around on social media. Time will tell what awaits for director Kim Jin-min’s (Extracurricular) new action noir, My Name. Regardless, the first teaser is already proving as effective in its tone and intent following the most recent poster and photo reveals, with more on the way until the film launches on Netflix beginning October 15. Jiwoo joins a drug cartel and becomes a mole in the police force to seek the truth behind her father’s death. She encounters harsh truths in the course of carrying out her revenge. The film stars Han So-hee (The World of the Married, Nevertheless) who reportedly performed the difficult action scenes herself according to the streamer. Hailed as the first in a trilogy, the recent wrap of principal photography in Puerto Rico for action thriller, Fortress, is here to underscore its milestone with a first look photo to view above. Willis reunites with fellow Hard Kill cohort Jesse Metcalfe, with actor Chad Michael Murray also starring for the James Cullen Bressack-directed pic. The story revolves around a top-secret resort for retired U.S. intelligence officers. A group of criminals led by Balzary (Murray) breach the compound, hellbent on revenge on Robert (Willis), forcing the retired officer and his son (Metcalfe) to save the day. Fortress was written by Alan Horsnail, and is produced by Randall Emmett and George Furla, Luillo Ruiz and Chad A.
