Putting together this week’s installment of The Hit List wasn’t too troubling, though the workload is now piling up, so I’ll be working on pacing myself a little more apart from last month’s announcement. RITES OF MEN: ‘Shazam’ Star Leads New Revenge Drama For ‘Bad Day For The Cut’ Director

DC fans are only a few years off from a sequel to actor Zachary Levi’s 2019 hit, Shazam. Until then, as of announcements last week, folks can look forward to his newest dramatic endevaor, Rites Of Men, from award-winning director Chris Baugh (Bad Day For The Cut). Levi will star from a script by Oscar-nominated writer Jonathan Herman (Straight Outta Compton, upcoming Scarface remake), about a man who will stop at nothing to find his 16-year-old son’s killers. During his mission, he finds the strength to forgive and become a better person. Herman will also be creatively involved throughout the production process. Vedette Finance CEO Anthony Jabre (Heist, Aftermath, upcoming 14 Fists) will produce with veteran Bob Cooper of Landscape Entertainment.

ONLY HUMAN: ‘Kung Fu Ghost’ Actor Noah Sargent Debuts New Crime Thriller Shoot For Blue 76 Banner

Emerging actor Noah Sargent will lead the cast for Only Human, the launchpad for his shared family film banner, Blue 76 Productions. The new feature film is one of several projects on the way from the company sheperded by Sargent, alongside his father, Laurence James Sargent who also stars. Only Human sees the younger Sargent in the role of Jason, a footsoldier working alongside his brother Charles (George Cesil) for a crime boss named Mac (Laurence James Sargent). When a job goes awry and his brother dies, Jason is left outraged and with no choice but to tend to his natural instincts and seek vengeance. Both father and son serve as executive producers, with the younger Sargent also making his directing debut. He pens the script with Stuart Smith, who serves as producer and also co-stars. NE ZHA: Well Go USA Hits Back Into Theaters With An English-Dubbed Re-Release On January 31

Well Go USA has proudly debuted an English-dubbed trailer announcing a select theatrical re-release of Jiao Zi’s animated epic, Ne Zha. The move comes in honor of Chinese Lunar New Year, as well as a conciliatory gesture for concerned moviegoers stateside as China mitigates an ongoing viral crisis in several cities, forcing an influx of theater cancellations, and the closure of millions of theaters this weekend. The Planos-based distribution firm previously released Ne Zha in Mandarin last Summer and Fall, including in IMAX 3D, after becoming a high-earning milestone animated success on several fronts for the Chinese film industry. UPDATE #2: On Thursday, Well Go USA signaled its own tentative delay of their U.S. release of animated Ne Zha sequel, Jiang Ziya. The movie was to premiere this weekend in China, with the Planos-based Texas distributor slating a February 7 release. The move falls in line with other planned releases overseas from China for Lunar New Year titles as China continues to mitigate its ongoing crisis with the deadly coronavirus outbreak. From what began as a 2003 comedy short to a cult series favorite a little over ten years ago as a Globes de Cristal favorite, actor Alexandre Astier is back and wearing multiple hats once more to shepherd his take on classic Arthurian folklore in Kaamelott – Premier Volet. Astier returns to the role of King Arthur, delivering an offbeat comedic adventure that sees Arthur hiding in Rome and plotting “his comeback to oppose the army of his former friend Lancelot”. French outlet SND unveiled the first teaser on Wednesday and a French theatrical release has been set for July 29.
