Actress Zhang Ziyi (Hero, 2046, The Grandmaster) is back and upping the ante with a role now forthcoming in the upcoming sequel to Gareth Edwards’s monster hit, Godzilla. Legendary has closed a deal for the actress to star in a role that will have her outfitted within the covert Monarch organization in a story set several years following the events of the 2014 film. Zhang will be joined by Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown and Bradley Whitford, along with returning actor Watanabe Ken. The summer film festival scene is looking to be quite the adventure this year, particularly for the 16th edition of the New York Asian Film Festival. The official line-up has already been announced ahead of the festival’s Film Society launch on June 30 with tickets going on sale next week and the NYAFF released a mini teaser to stir the hype some. The marketing is a little iffy for me as I’m still trying to get a grasp about what will happen after the August 4 release of Miike Takashi’s JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable – Chapter One. The original fourth chapter in the series and its subsequent anime is pretty sizable and a lot does happen for everything to be told in one film. For this, I personally I hope there’s a sequel.
