First Photo Emerges From "A MAN WILL RISE"?

A lot of time has passed since action stars Dolph Lundgren and Tony Jaa completed their respective projects. Lundgren will star in the upcoming post-apocalyptic zombie techno action thriller, Battle Of The Damned, and he recently finished up a film called Blood Of Redemption before flying out to Thailand and sharing a to begin a new project with Jaa, whose latest 3D martial arts ensemble actioner, Tom Yum Goong 2, is slated for release anywhere between now, August or possibly December. While actor Kellan Lutz is not hugely known for action roles, it seems he does rise to the occasion when called upon. The case seems as such for the latest $70 million dollar production push by Nu Image/Millenium from producers Les Welden and Danny Lerner and writers Sean Hood and Giulio Steve. Not to be outdone by director Brett Ratner’s latest efforts with MGM and Paramount, the Heat Vision column of The Hollywood Reporter recently shared updates regarding filmmaker and co-Renny Harlin’s own movement to direct a 3D feature film based on the greek mythological hero, Hercules. The beautiful sounds of K-Popera singer Yisabel headlines the latest extended promo trailer for an upcoming martial arts stage/stunt sports 3D feature, Fly High, starring members of the martial arts sports team, Korean Tigers (or K-Tigers for short). The teaser hosts brief confessionals from stunt performer Lang Lee and actress Tae-mi, the team head, Haksun An, and team director Changbum An, about the inspired vision for the feature to introduce an interpretive direction in displaying the art of Tae Kwon Do as more than a martial art, but as an interpretive and self-reflective form of art for the world to see. Nearly a year and a half in the making and since launching earlier this year in January, UK-based action and stunt performance group SG Action is out to stake its claim in the field of martial arts cinema. They are professional athletes who specialize in acting, drama, action comedy, stuntwork, tricking, freerunning, Harlem shaking (okay well maybe not Harlem shaking, lol), gymnastics, cheerleading, and even share credits for television and film, as well as live stage shows. Well Go USA has recently announced the official limited theatrical release date for director Stephen Fung’s latest film, Tai Chi Hero, the sequel to the 2012 release of actor Jayden Yuan’s lead debut role in Tai Chi Zero, both of which are produced by co-stars Fung, and Daniel Wu for their production company, Diversion Pictures. The follow up also stars Tony Leung Ka-Fai, pop star and actress Angelababy, Eddie Peng and William Feng, with Peter Stormare, Yuen Biao and Jade Xu. The film was also produced by Wang Zhonglei and Zhang Dajun along with Chen Kuo-fu who wrote story for the screenplay, written by Chang Chia-lu and Cheng Hsiao-tse. City On Fire recently reported the upcoming street date for the Spanish-language spaghetti-western action crime thriller, Diablo, co-written, produced, edited and directed by Argentinean filmmaker Nicanor Loreti. The film was also written by co-producer Nico Galvagno, co-editor Martin Blousson and Javier Diment, as well as produced by Hernán Findling, Boikot Films. The new poster and trailer have arrived for the upcoming CG-animated sci-fi action feature film, Space Pirate Captain Harlock. The film is a remake based on an original manga character dating back to the 1950’s and 1970’s by artist Leiji Matsumoto, about a hero who becomes a space pirate and rebels against Earth’s government to save mankind. The $30 million dollar feature was three years in the making since Toei Animation announced its development back in 2010 for a scheduled 2012 release at the time, in addition to the rebooted anime and manga franchise. The film is based on a script by Mobile Suit Gundam UC writer Harutoshi Fukui, and is directed by Shinji Aramaki whose previous works include Appleseed, Appleseed: Ex-Machina and Halo: Legends. Twitchfilm is interpreting a recent report from Vietnamese news outlet Zing that the producers for the upcoming film, Bụi đời Chợ Lớn have failed to meet censorship requirements. Consequently, at the behest of the Evaluation Council Film Department, the team responsible for delivering some of the most fruitful martial arts action movies in recent years such as The Rebel and Clash is now forced to put the film’s release on indefinite hold or rewrite and reshoot as much of the film possible, prolonging the already set April 19 release of the upcoming action thriller and frustrating an already hyped fan base.
