Big Plans Are On The Way For Mexiplotation Revenge Shortfilm Thriller KISS OF VENGEANCE
I missed the press late last year for the trailer of the upcoming shortfilm from director Fernando Barreda Luna titled, Kiss Of Vengeance. It wasn’t until one of its co-stars of the film, martial arts actor and stunt performer Peter Jang, hooked me up recently with a link to the short film’s official website.
Based on what is said on the main page, the film page homage to 1980’s female mexploitation action and kung fu cinema set in the backdrop of the U.S./Mexico border where a little girl who witnesses the massacre of her family at the hands of the Mafia, and grows up to be a rogue gunslinger who lives a life of loneliness, driven by vengeance and committed to deliver her own brand of justice. Excitingly, the shortfilm is expected to kickstart funding efforts as a lead-in to a much longer Grindhouse-style feature length movie.
Personally, I can’t wait to see both. The lead actress looks ferociously sexy in her role, and the trailer is brutally violent, compelling, gloriously stylish, and every bit as fun to look at as other trailers for films like Planet Terror and Machete.
Stay tuned!
