STEEL RAIN 2: SUMMIT Trailer Antes Up The Stakes On The High Seas!

It was last year that Lotte Cultureworks took to the Asian Film Market at Busan announcing Steel Rain 2: Summit, a sequel to The Attorney helmer Yang Woo-Suk’s own 2017 webtoon adaptation. We now have a first look trailer from over at HanCinema that reintroduces returning actors Jung Woo-sung and actor Kwak Do-won, and a story that sees their respective characters, promoted from the first film as South Korea’s president and a North Korean official, who find themselves abducted and trapped in a North Korean submarine following a leaders’ nuclear summit between the U.S. and both Koreas which goes awry. Also starring are Yoo Yeon-seok and Angus Macfadyen for a 2020 release.

I normally don’t do westerns, but this upcoming release from Indican Pictures has caught my attention because it’s more than just a western. Throw in a road trip, haunted locations, and a band, and how can I not be intrigued? Spindrift’s Haunted West is a psychedelic country western band and while they travelled around the American West for five weeks, they only performed in ghost towns and haunted locations including California, the Valley of Fire, and Wyoming. Last week saw the release of the official trailer for Western gangster noir, The Big Ugly, coming this July from Vertical Entertainment. The film serves as more than a hard-boiled gangster thriller that sees the likes of Vinnie Jones and Ron Perlman headlining. Actor and martial artist Peter Pham has been on the rise for some years now, having worked on a number of independent short film projects whilst in the states with independent creator Ken Dinh, after landing on the niche’s international radar in 2015. Pham, a specialist in Wing Chun, has since worked his way up to feature film territory with director Phan Anh and PhanBros Film for action drama, The Foggy Mountain, currently headed for a release in Vietnam on July 24. Pham plays Phi, a fearless fighter whose former village hangs in the balance upon his return home to avenge his wife’s death at the hands of a ruthless gangster. The film also features Simon Kook (Ip Man 3) and Vietnamese boxing champion Truong Dinh Hoang, and for what it’s worth for Pham, a new and prospective addition to martial arts action stardom.
