Check Out The Latest Character File For Upcoming Thriller SKIN TRADE
What do you get when you bring gaming franchise Mortal Kombat’s most prolific online director and filmmaker and one of action cinema’s biggest leading martial arts movie heroes together on Twitter?
Well, you get this:
@tonyjaaofficial hope to meet you really soon as well! Huge fan of your work!
— Kevin Tancharoen (@KTANCH) May 8, 2014
No, I won’t pretend to know what the root of all this is. And in all likelihood I probably couldn’t tell you even if I did know, as with most things I have learned in the past year or so about certain projects with repsect to their originators. But I have a gut feeling that this is worth bookmarking.
So, yes. Kevin Tancharoen and Tony Jaa know who each other are. We can pretty much clarify that. However, the bigger question is what happens next?
Well…only time will tell. At least we know what Jaa is up to with the current production of Sha Po Lang 2, the thematic preamble to the 2004 cult action hit, S.P.L.. Fans can also expect at least an additional three or more films set to star Jaa in his ever-evolving career, including director Ekachai Uekrongtham‘s international action thriller, Skin Trade, which has been slowly disseminating its own share of pictoral promo art, including its latest graphic in the form of a character profile for Jaa‘s role, which you can check out below.
Skin Trade stars Jaa with lead actor Dolph Lundgren in the story of a New York detective whose unrelenting hunt for his family’s killer partners him with a streetsmart beat cop, putting them both on the battlefront against a human trafficking ring. The film also stars Peter Weller, Michael Jai White, Celina Jade and Ron Pearlman, and is produced by Mike Selby and Craig Baumgarten with action sequences designed by David Ismalone. The film will be partially screened in Cannes this month prior to a 2015 release.
As for the aforementioned tweets, well…let the speculative and nerdy uber-fan purge commence!
Native New Yorker. Been writing for a long time now, and I enjoy what I do. Be nice to me!
