With no shortage on boxing dramas anytime soon, Boiler Room helmer Ben Younger is now out to make an impression with his own offering, Bleed For This. Actor Miles Teller (The Divergent Series, Whiplash) leads the film in its newest among true story-based underdog tales as intense as these can get. Teller certainly samples that intensity here with an immersive role that will undoubtedly continue to show his grit and gravitas as an actor post YA sci-fi, which is something I think we can all appreciate as moviegoers.
BLEED FOR THIS is the incredible true story of one of the most inspiring and unlikely comebacks in sports history. Miles Teller (Whiplash, Divergent) stars as Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza, a local Providence boxer who shot to stardom after winning two world title fights. After a near-fatal car accident leaves Vinny with a severed spine, doctors tell him he may never walk again. With the help of renowned trainer Kevin Rooney (Aaron Eckhart), Vinny becomes a legend when he not only walks again, but miraculously returns to the ring to reclaim his title belt only a year after the accident.
Also starring are actress Katey Seagal, Ted Levine, Ciarán Hinds, Jordan Gelber and Amamda Clayton.
