It has been a ridiculous weekend over in Texas where attendees at Fantastic Fest got a first look at the Chad Stahelski/David Leitch directed revenge thriller, John Wick with its main lead, Keanu Reeves in attendance. The reviews are up and about, with critics hailing it as another exciting, brutal, action-packed feature-entertainer and a clear case of what happens when the right people come together for something as amazing as what was put together from Derek Kolstad’s screenplay.
John Wick isn’t the only film lighting up the festival circuit in Texas though as it is one of a handful of films that are already garnering praise as of this Summer and Fall, including the Marko Zaror-starrer, Redeemer, Sono Sion’s Tokyo Tribe and Joe Lynch’s contained Salma Hayek thriller, Everly, to name a few. As it stands though, if you’re looking for a reason to go to the movies, you can thank the makers of John Wick for starters, who now have a new festival poster to celebrate their acclaim with. Take a look:
An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him. With New York City as his bullet-riddled playground, JOHN WICK (Keanu Reeves) is a fresh and stylized take on the “assassin genre”.
John Wick releases in theaters on October 24 from Lionsgate. Reeves is joined by Willem Dafoe, Adrianne Palicki, Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Lance Reddick and Dean Winters. If you missed the trailer, watch it below, be excited, and stay excited!
