With the news of a new movie in development comes the seperate arrival of Oliver Harper’s long-awaited “Street Fighter 2” documentary, Here Comes A New Challenger. The crowdfunded feature doc aims to cover the history and origins of the hit fighting game saga that paved the way for its most influential sequel, the franchise it blazed a trail for, and the emergence of titles from other competing studios that sparked the nascent wave of fighting game fanfare, from the public arcade to home consoles, and features interviews with a number of creators involved with the franchise, gamers, developers, directors and journalists alike.

Fans keen on snagging a copy of the Blu-Ray may do so with shipments going out this month via the official website. The official trailer arrived last month as well!

Here Comes A New Challenger explores the origins of the gaming phenomena that is Street Fighter 2 and how it impacted the lives of kids, teenagers and adults worldwide.  We celebrate what made the game so special to the gamers, both in the arcade and in the comfort of their own homes, on the latest 16-bit consoles. Bedrooms and lounges became the arcade as children challenged their friends in battle to become CHAMPION!
