Zombie stories are popular, and shows like The Walking Dead and Z Nation, and even the recent news of a possible theatrical reboot for I Am Legend are proof of this. So there’s obviously some momentum to work off of here, particularly for the forthcoming independent thriller, Vermilion, which promises to present something a just bit more in its delivery than the usual typical action horror formula.
Vermilion will mark the directorial debut of Scott Keebler under his Scott Will Kill You Productions banner, in conjunction with Captain Ron Productions. Development kicked off last Fall with principal photography commensing back in June 2014 between weekends, and is reportedly still filming with post-production set to possibly start next Spring.
SYNOPSIS:
A vaccine created for the sole purpose of prevention, instead leads humanity to the brink of extinction.
The film is a drama/horror film revolving around the fall of humanity to the undead. A unit comprised of Humans and Vampires are thrown together by what remains of the government, in the hope of tracking down a possible cure for the infection that continues to spread. During this exploration, the unit encounters what life has become without a civilized rule of law.
The current goal is a release as soon as either late 2015 or early 2016 while filming remains on-going. The production will also include smores of other related storytelling gems, which will include, but are not limited to, a thirteen-part Prelude series leading up to the film’s release, as well as a side-project by the actors called Vermilion Chronicles, for which a first episode is already available.
“It’s definitely promotional, but also for everyone to get more information about the characters in film.” says screenwriter Veronica Vargas, co-founder of Captain Ron Productions with fellow co-founder, writer Ron Fulmer. “Each character in the film has their own demons so to speak, so we though that Preludes would be a great way to show why the characters are they way they are.”
As a noteworthy mention, lead actor and fight choreographer
Damian Vargas, along with Veronica Vargas will be joining Mezco Toyz as guests to sign copies of The Art Of Living Dead Dolls artbook on
