Japan Gets A Home Release Date For DREDD
When Dredd underperformed at the box office late last year, it was a heavily-dealt blow to cult fans everywhere who not only love the franchise, but also paid great credibility to director Pete Travis and screenwriter Alex Garland for their unique vision of the future post apocalyptic action sci-fi crime story with action star Karl Urban in the lead. While Dredd may have faltered in efforts for a sequel, the film did exceptionally well in Blu-Ray, DVD and digital download sales. Moreover, in addition to the work of independent filmmaker Oliver Holingdale and Dredd producer Adi Shankar working on their own short film projects, Dredd is also being promised a sequel by way of an impending comic book release.
Fans can still purchase the film, as it is still being newly relased throughout the world depending on where you live. This summer, Japan is slated to release the film domestically on DVD and BluRay on a rental and retail date: May 22 and June 26 I think. (Correct me if I’m wrong).
Yes, I know that the film has had its run, but whenever it comes to a film as good as Dredd, one just has to make pushing this film a priority, especially with a genius trailer filled with Dredd action and Japanese characters splashed across the screen. It’s beautiful, really 🙂
Don’t forget to read the description in the link if you can understand Japanese a little more than I can.
Check out the trailer, and take it all in. ^_^
