MEXICALI: Luke LaFontaine’s Bren Foster Starrer Slates March Release, Key Sales At EFM

Actor and martial artist Bren Foster’s latest completed action thriller, Mexicali, is coming to the U.S. in theaters and on digital from March 13 from Samuel Goldwyn Films. Stunt professional Luke LaFontaine makes his feature directorial debut on the pic written by fellow stunt veteran-turned-director Jesse V. Johnson with whom he’s collaborated on past hits like Savage Dog, Hell Hath No Fury, and the first and second The Debt Collector films to name a few.
Ex-fighter Joe helps run his partner Estrella’s farm in Mexico. After taking underground fights to support workers, he’s forced to defend himself and Marco when Chavez’s gang attacks them on the road.
Screendaily’s Jeremy Kay reports that Bleiberg Entertainment has also landed other territories at EFM as they screen for buyers; Areas include Latin America, South Korea, The Middle East, Eastern Europe, Portugal, France, and India.
Mexicali, formerly known as The Farmer, also stars Plutarco Haza and Tania Raymonde, along with Kris Van Damme and Louis Mandylor. Bleiberg’s Ariel Bleiberg and Ehud Bleiberg produce.
Foster will next be seen opposite leading men Daniel MacPherson and Russell Crowe in Tyler Atkins’s MMA thriller, Beast In Me. The Life After Fighting star is also on the way with his own sophomore effort, Relentless, which currently hails from Spirit Media, who are also at EFM for the pic.
