MORTAL KOMBAT Debuts Kabal In A New Promo Banner For The Live-Action Thriller Adaptation Of The Hit Game
Warner Bros. Pictures unveiled its latest promotional artwork for Simon McQuoid’s Mortal Kombat. McQuoid directed the film from a script by Greg Russo, and will premiere in theaters, IMAX and HBO Max on April 16.
Mortal Kombat stars Lewis Tan in the studio’s newest cinematic incarnation of the hit fighting video game franchise that has spawned a multi-media success for nearly thirty years. Tan stars as Cole Young, an underdog MMA fighter who finds himself thrust into the world of the legendary tournament where Earth’s greatest champions battle it out against otherworldly forces.
The official red-band trailer debuted on February 18. Eight days later, the trailer amassed enough online views to become the most-watched red-band trailer in history.
Tan, depicted with slightly more imagery of his illustration as Cole, leads the character roster in the banner below from left to right as follows: Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, and Daniel Nelson in the franchise’s first-ever live-action portrayal of Kabal, who first appeared in Midway’s “Mortal Kombat 3”, and remains a fan favorite staple of the games to this day under Netherrealm Studios.
The film also stars Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Max Huang as Kung Lao, Josh Lawson as Kano and Tadanobu Asano as Raiden.
