Actor Lewis Tan took to Twitter on Thursday evening to signal fans his current status on choreography for the current production of Simon McQuoid’s feature debut, Mortal Kombat.
Film Combat Syndicate responded to the actor with a question as to who fans should thank for fine-tuning the fight scene action to come, and Tan responded, naming stunt performers Chan Griffin and Anthony Rinna, calling them “Future greats.”
Just learned the choreography for the finale… it is a beast on a whole diff level, and I’ve been doing this a very long time. Mind. Blown. #MortalKombat

Griffin’s IMDb page indicates he’s been doing stunts since 2010, with credits in fight scene coordination including films like S.S. Rajamouli’s Bahubali 2: The Conclusion and David F. Sandberg’s Shazam. He and Rinna both served as core stunt performers for James Wan’s Aquaman, as well as on Netflix series Marco Polo and on Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
The two are working under the film’s listed stunt coordinator, Kyle Gardiner, who has employed both performers on several of the aforementioned credits. Other titles he’s worked on include San Andreas, Hacksaw Ridge, Kong: Skull Island, and the upcoming Godzilla Vs. Kong.
McQuoid is directing the film from a script by Greg Russo who recently teased several more characters in recent memory, including “Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance” game character Nitara who will be played by actress and stunt performer Elissa Cadwell.
She joins lead actor Tan whose role still remains undisclosed among a row of characters returning to the big screen since the 1995 and 1998 movies: Joe Taslim (Sub-Zero), Ludi Lin (Liu Kang), Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), Mehcad Brooks (Jax), Josh Lawson (Kano), Tadanobu Asano (Raiden), Sisi Stringer (Mileena), Chin Han (Shang Tsung), Hiroyuki Sanada (Scorpion) and Max Huang (Kung Lao).
Mortal Kombat opens in theaters on March 5, 2021 from Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line.
