OCTOBER FACTION Signals New Monster Hunt Series Now In Development At Netflix
As far as comic adaptations go, Netflix went in pretty hard on Friday with their move to announce development for new seven-episode series, October Faction. The 2014 IDW publication from duo Steve Niles and artist Damien Worm now stands as one of a raft of series dramas the streaming service is mingling with much to its lucrative benefit.
Building on the success of the IDW comic book series written by Steve Niles, October Faction follows globetrotting monster hunters Fred and Deloris Allen who, after the death of Fred’s father, return to their hometown in upstate New York with their teenage children Geoff and Viv. As the family adjusts, Fred and Deloris must hide their identities as members of a secret organization, and our heroes quickly discover that their new small-town setting isn’t as idyllic as it seems.
Director X (Superfly, Mister Tachyon, Across the Line), creator and showrunner Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow, Krypton), Megan Follows (Reign, Anne of Green Gables), Mina Shum (Meditation Park, Ninth Floor) and David Frazee (Vikings, Orphan Black) are directing the series. John Calvert (X Company, Anne with an E) and Mohamad El Masri (Here and Now) are producing with Niles, as well as James Thorpe, Thomas Walden and Eric Birnberg. George Strayton (Mech-X4, Xena: Warrior Princess) and Melissa Blake (Sleepy Hollow, Heroes) will co-exec produce.
October Faction hails from High Park Entertainment in association with IDW Entertainment, the latter which will distribute the series worldwide – excluding Canada.
