OUTRIGHT LOSER, HIDDEN MASTER: Yen To Shepherd New Action Series In Slate From ‘Wu Xia’ Director’s New Production Banner
Donnie Yen will reteam with Wu Xia director Peter Chan for Outright Loser, Hidden Master, according to Variety coverage out of Busan this month.
The action fantasy drama about tells of “an Asian American who discovers that martial artists in Hong Kong are mysteriously extending their lineage by imprinting their memories, martial art skills and techniques onto the bodies of strangers.”
The series is one in a raft of independently produced shows on the roster from Chan’s newly launched Changin’ Pictures, which looks to become a powerhouse production entity for the current momentum and potential for distribution of content featuring Asian talent for streaming platforms. Yen was one of two stars cited as part of the agenda among the five shows listed, with the other being actress Zhang Ziyi’s starring role in The Murderer, which Chan will direct.
“Infinite possibilities can be found when filmmakers share the same vision,” said Yen. “I am excited to be partnering with Peter Chan and am confident that together we can elevate materials to the very next level.”
Yen will serve as showrunner and action choreographer, and is in talks to direct, according to the report. The actor will next appear in survival drama Come Back Home, and in next year’s fourth chapter of John Wick.
