Paco Wong Announces The Green-Light For SPL3!

The film is a thematic build-up from the first with a mostly different set of characters that now center on an undercover cop’s mission to take out a corrupt crime boss and prison warden with the help of a guard desperate to save his dying daughter. Tony Jaa leads the cast along with Max Zhang and Louis Koo with returning actors Wu Jing and Simon Yam aboard from the first film, and with a script that takes its cues from Chinese astrology, there’s virtually no limit on how the story of a potential third could play out.
So, surely its easy to speculate, but one other bit of solid news now making the rounds is that a third has officially been greenlit, as per a recent statement by producer Paco Wong. This ought to keep the fanbase busy for a few more years and with a sequel that has taken to an international appeal with Jaa’s attachment, it’s safe to say the floodgates are open and all martial arts action stars may be welcome.

This is fantastic news! I'm dying to see this sequel cause it looks like it could be even better than the 1st, so news of a 3rd is very exciting!! 😀 Hopefully SPL2 gets a U.S. Release very soon!

SPL is remembered for reinventing short weapon fights. It could've gotten away with having just that fight. SPL2 has fifteen mediocre fights that will all be forgotten as quickly as The Protector 2 was. If they want SPL3 to hold a candle to SPL1, get John Salvitti for the action.
