Sony Pictures, for what it’s worth, may be all in with all things spiders and superheroes in the years to come with a whole line-up of characters in the works for film and likely even TV. The darkly-pursued anti-hero, Venom, stands as one of them with Ruben Fleischer at the helm and with a profile bolstering steadily among fandoms, including most recently at Comic-Con in San Diego.
That milestone now brings us a second official trailer in which we are further immersed into the world of Eddie Brock, a reporter whose investigation into a seedy corporation experimenting with alien symbiotes now find him at the center of his own interpersonal crisis. Invaded and corrupted by a symbiote of his own, Brock is now at a precipice where he’s forced to mitigate with a vicious supernatural parasite to survive while, as the trailer shows, other symbiotes take on other hosts.
If previous news is any proof, one of those hosts will be Woody Harrelson’s forthcoming iteration of Carnage – something which ought to drop some jaws once that reveal is made public. Tom Hardy stars in this next evolution of Marvel movies opening on October 5 with a cast that also lists Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze and Reid Scott.
