SPADES: Indie Rights Picks Up Johnny Yong Bosch’s New Action Crime Thriller For Free-Ad Support Premiere This Summer!
Actor and director Johnny Yong Bosch took to social media on Tuesday to signal fans with a link to the Indie Rights Movies YouTube portal to his newest crime thriller, Spades. The independent film distribution banner will launch the film on its free ad-supported link on August 8 through this link, as well as on Digital and VoD through Google Movies & TV, Fandango At Home, and Apple TV+.
Detective James Bishop believes he’s chasing a ruthless vigilante who leaves spade cards on the bodies of the guilty. But when his daughter goes missing, the case twists into a nightmare that pulls him into a trafficking ring—and toward the secrets that bind him to the killer. To bring her home, Bishop must descend into the darkness he’s spent years avoiding.
Spades picked up several award wins at festivals in the past year, including Best Action Film at the New York International Film Awards, and most recently at the Los Angeles Film Awards for Best Indie Feature.
Bosch directs from his own script and also stars in the pic along with Jason Narvy, Nobuaki Shimamoto, Kaiji Tang, Maya Brattkus, and Cassidy Espinola. Polo Yazaki produced the film alongside Narvy, with Bosch exec producing, and with action sequences by Hector Soria.
