SPIRIT GUARDIANS: THE LAST SECRET OF THE FIRST EMPEROR Doles Out An Epic New Trailer For The Vietnamese Action Adventure
Director Phan Quang Binh Nguyen’s new period epic, Spirit Guardians: The Last Secret Of The First Emperor, is finally out with a brand new trailer ahead of its National Day holiday release in August in Vietnam. The film is also poised for an International Premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Set in the Dinh Dynasty of the 10th century, the period film follows seven loyal warriors who must race against time to transport 99 coffins to different parts of the kingdom as a decoy to the enemy and keep the final resting place of the first emperor a secret.
Production hails from TV360 and from producer/distributor BHD. Faith-based Texas outfit Papaian Studios is heading up the film’s North American rollout after acquiring the movie as reported back in June by Deadline‘s Liz Shackleton:
…“It was difficult for us to make a decision since each of the companies has valuable skills and assets,” said Ngo Bich Hanh, Senior Vice President of BHD – Vietnam Media.
“This movie combines one of Vietnam’s highest ever production budgets with years of effort from the talented cast and crew. We hope it will be released in cinemas in as many countries as possible and very close to the local release date so that we can share our Vietnamese story with world audiences in the best possible way.”
Spirit Guardians: The Last Secret Of The First Emperor stars Tuan Tran (Song Of The South, Mai) and actor/martial arts star Johnny Tri Nguyen (The Rebel, The Continental: From the World of John Wick) who also served as action director. Also starring are Thien Tu, Tu Long, Do Thi Hai Yen, and Le Vu Long, and many more as shown in a raft of character posters a while back.
