Syndicate Superhero Movie Roundup: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, AGENT CARTER, THE WOLVERINE
Today was a pretty loaded day with some comic book film news. Notably, a few new photos from Thursday’s installment of Entertainmemt Weekly were unveiled for director Mark Webb‘s upcoming film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is set to release on May 2, 2014.
Also making its way to comic-con is an upcoming shortfilm starring actress Hayley Atwell in a reprisal of her role from the 2011 Marvel film, Captain America: The First Avenger as Agent Peggy Carter in the new Marvel One-Shot, Agent Carter. The shortfilm will also see actor Dominic Cooper back in the role of scientist and innovator Howard Stark, father of Tony Stark, the man who would become Iron Man in the Marvel canon. No info yet on where Agent Carter will debut, but it is slated to appear on the upcoming home release of Iron Man 3 this September.
Finally, two new clips from director James Mangold‘s July 26 release of The Wolverine are now online, featuring actress Svetlana Khodchenkova as the deadly femme fatale, Viper, in addition to Logan facing off against Shingen Yashida, played respectively by actors Hugh Jackman and Hiroyuki Sanada. The film will focus on Logan’s life after being an X-Man, as he spirited away to Japan by way of an old friend whose life he saved back in World War 2 as a P.O.W.. On top of dealing with the ghosts of his past, it is then that Logan will be forced to deal with his own mortality in the face of deadly new enemies.
