On Saturday, Twitchfilm forwarded a new 30-second teaser for the upcoming action thriller, re:solve. Courtesy of Red Action Entertainment & JF LENNON, the film is being pitched Singapore’s first ever police action thriller from director Randy Ang, who broke ground with his first online movie magazine publication, Sinema.SG and founded his own independent theater a year later, prior to successfully cutting his teeth in film as the executive producer and art director of the 2007 cult indie feature film Becoming Royston, as well as producing and marketing for the 2008 film, The Days. After then building his career for the next four years through directing commercials, music videos, musical features and shortfilms, it seems Ang is ready to prove that he can take it to the next level. Following a star-studded press conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Macau earlier this week, a new trailer was unveiled for the upcoming epic action thriller, Helios. The film represents the latest action-oriented efforts from filmmakers Sunny Luk and Longman Leung, the writing/directing duo behind the 2012 award-winning blockbuster, Cold War, which has since garnered a sequel. Primed for a yet-undated release for next year, the film centers around counterterriorism efforts to track down a stolen nuclearm Uranium bomb from North Korea that makes its way South to be sold in Hong Kong. The new trailer is online for writer and director Wong Jing‘s latest action comedy, The Man From Macau. Newly retitled from its previous name, From Vegas To Macau, the film sees actor Chow Yun-Fat returning to familiar territory with an old character from the classic God Of Gamblers film franchise that began in 1989 with Wong at the helm. Malaysian filmmaker James Lee and the folks over at Doghouse 73 Pictures are currently in the middle of working on a small slate of shortfilms that will release between now and 2014. Another one of those shortfilms includes Lee‘s latest step into science fiction territory with a new proof-of-concept shortfilm titled Atlantis Conspiracy, which sees actor Jourdan Lee Khoo and actress Laura M. Steigers taking on armed soldiers while protecting a rare piece of powerful armor. Also starring are Mano Maniam and Sunny Pang reuniting with Lee since working respectively on the 2011 horror comedy Sini Ada Hantu and the 2012 martial arts comedy romp, The Collector. It was intially reported back in August that film distributors over at The Weinstein Company were going to release a version of director Bong Joon-Ho‘s latest science fiction action epic, Snowpiercer, which would have twenty minutes of the film removed. The initial report from IF Magazine quoted writer and film festival programmer Tony Rayns who said “TWC people have told Bong that their aim is to make sure the film ‘will be understood by audiences in Iowa… and Oklahoma,’”, further adding that TWC’s treatment of the film for the U.S., which would unnecessarily add opening and closing voice overs and remove a lot of the character development that was so elemental for the film’s success, was also reflection on other English-speaking areas for which they pre-bought the rights to the film earlier on. Approximately four days ago, new Instagram photos arrived online this week from the production of Everly, courtesy of writer and director Joe Lynch. Co-written by Yale Hannon, Everly is as a contained action thriller starring actress Salma Hayek as a down-on-her-luck woman forced to defend herself against swarms of Yakuza assassins sent to torture and kill her when her crime boss lover finds out she’s an FBI informant. Following previous reports in October that director Park Hong-soo‘s latest Korean action thriller, Commitment, was picked up for North American distribution, Well Go USA has a new minute-long trailer for the film set for a limited theatrical release on December 6 in select cities. Formerly titled The Alumni, Commitment stars Korean hip hop artist and Big Bang frontman Choi Seung-hyun (a.k.a.
