I remember when filmmaker Paul Feig’s reboot of the horror comedy franchise, Ghostbusters, was met with a bit of brouhaha from some fanboys who weren’t very keen on seeing an all-female line-up. Gladly, those voices have gladly been silenced over the past year lest the rest of us endure any further noise on that end, because let’s be very clear about something: Feig knows what he’s doing when it comes to comedy and he does a great job honing in on it. I think it’s become quite remarkable that folk tales have become such a staple for bold storytelling. Director Cedric Nicolas Troyan’s The Huntsman: Winter’s War certainly gives us plenty of that with its edgier approach following up on its Snow White roots and reintroducing us to actor Chris Hemsworth in an origin tale of how he became the titular character before then. Add Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain into the mix and what we get is a fantastic and edgy action adventure that bends the rules on childrens’ folklore for epic storytelling. Although, it is worthy of noticing when an actor like Hemsworth finally puts Mjölnir down and steps into other roles, which brings us to the latesr updates regarding the long-developing reboot of the Lethal Weapon franchise. Sources now indicate that Hemsworth is up for a role in new film with the working title, Lionhunters.
