XYZ Films has set an April 18 theatrical release for The Ritual, the new exorcism horror thriller starring Al Pacino and Dan Stevens. The company has also unveiled the first poster on Wednesday. Based on true events, The Ritual follows two priests – one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) – who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms. The film is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. Her case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history. The Ritual also stars Ashley Greene and Abigail Cowen, and is directed by David Midell directs from a script he wrote with Enrico Natale who produces. The film is also produced Andrew Stevens, and Mitchell Welch. “David Midell’s grounded aesthetic is terrifying, authentic […]

Netflix original feature thriller, APOSTLE, is directed by Gareth Huw Evans and stars Dan Stevens and Michael Sheen.
Nerdist took to the interwebs to present an exclusive look at the first official poster for upcoming horror thriller, Apostle. It’s the first new-anything since the first still went viral as of May and here with Dan Stevens leading the way and famed Merantau, The Raid and The Raid 2 helmer Gareth Huw Evans directing. London, 1905. Prodigal son Thomas Richardson (Dan Stevens) has returned home, only to learn that his sister is being held for ransom by a religious cult. Determined to get her back at any cost, Thomas travels to the idyllic island where the cult lives under the leadership of the charismatic Prophet Malcolm (Michael Sheen). As Thomas infiltrates the island’s community, he learns that the corruption of mainland society that they claim to reject has infested the cult’s ranks nonetheless – and uncovers a secret far more evil than he could have imagined. Written and directed […]
Having finally seen the 2014 action horror suspense thriller, The Guest, a little over a year ago, I was eventually thrilled at the idea of director Adam Wingard having secured the remake rights for Kim Jee-Woon’s I Saw The Devil. It feels like just the kind of role befitting of The Guest star Dan Stevens as he’s the first to come to mind after delivering such an impressive performance in his first film. It essentially put the actor on my radar and with his latest TV and film prospects including X-Men television series spin-off, Legion, and Bill Condon’s Beauty And The Beast next year, I can’t wait to see what happens next. The same goes for Stevens’s latest film announcement made in less than a day after events kicked off at the American Film Market in Santa Monica when it was reported that Gareth Evans was on deck to direct […]
Actor Dan Stevens is currently one of three people who may be up for a role in producer Joel Silver’s upcoming trilogy reboot of the John Carpenter cult classic, Escape From New York, which was announced last year. Time will tell if Stevens suits the role or not, but his performance is still pending for director Adam Wingard‘s chilling new thriller, The Guest, where he plays a former soldier caring for the family of a fallen comrade, only to become the center of suspicion when people in town start dying. A few clips have already arrived online, one of which you can now check out in the embed below. Picturehouse will be theatrically releasing the film in select North American locations on September 19, so check your local listings.
Director Adam Wingard‘s newest thriller, The Guest, is set to make its appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday and Sunday – September 13 and 14, respectively – before releasing theatrically in the U.S. on September 17. Having already earned the approval of many observers in the film festival circuit this year, it’s easy to see why it looks so appealing, especially if you’ve seen Wingard‘s previous work on the 2013 horror thriller, You’re Next. This time around, actor Dan Stevens takes center stage as a soldier on leave who finds himself in the welcome arms of a family of a fallen comrade, only for suspicion and mayhem to arise when the daughter suspects him for the deaths that are occuring in town. And this week, Digital Spy is offering a touch of that anarchy in a newly released bar room brawl clip from the film with Stevens […]
Last year’s contained action horror thriller, You’re Next, won widespread approval from fans everywhere last year, and even left talks open for a sequel. It even put actress Sharni Vinson on my map for potential action stardom, and considering that it’s what she wants as well, I totally have her back. For this, in part, we have writer/executive producer Simon Barrett and editor/director Adam Wingard, two of the people for getting that conversation started, and while we await developments on those ends mentioned above, the duo are back with a brand new suspense thriller this year titled The Guest, starring Dan Stevens, Maika Monroe, Brendan Meyer, Sheila Kelley, Leland Orser and Lance Reddick. SYNOPSIS: A soldier on leave arrives at the home of a fallen comrade. Friendly and helpful, they welcome him in, but when people start mysteriously dying in town, mayhem ensues as their teenage daughter starts wondering if […]
