James Wan Will Direct Fast 7

Universal Pictures is stopping at nothing to fast-track the production of Fast And Furious 7 as we are a little over a month away from seeing actors Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reunite with its ensemble cast in the May 24 release of Fast And Furious 6. As a result, director Justin Lin, who has been with the series since the franchise’s third installment, The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift, declined to helm the seventh installment, which is currently slated for an April 2014 release. Slashfilm is now reporting that director James Wan (pictured left) previously helmed Saw and Insidious is being tapped to direct the seventh installment of the franchise. Filmmaker Justin Lin is slowing down and putting the breaks on directing the upcoming seventh installment of the Fast And Furious film franchise. According to several reports, the filmmaker whose films have grossed over a billion dollars, including the colossal success of the previous three Fast And Furious films he directed, is stepping back from the director’s chair on Fast And Furious 7, citing the heavy workload between between films considering Universal wants the next film to start right away. As Universal is currently fishing for a new director, Lin is also attached to a new project for Warner Bros., based on a trilogy of action novels written by author Patrick Lee. Yahoo! Movies has a new featurette for the upcoming film from Universal Pictures, Fast And Furious 6, directed by Justin Lin, and opening in theaters on May 24, 2013. The clip shows actors Luke Evans , Michelle Rodriguez and Gina Carano discussing their respective takes on the physicality of their characters, including Rodriguez and Carano who go toe-to-toe in what has been described as the female equivalent to the action sequence between Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The sixth installment of the action packed, NOS-loaded franchise also stars Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot and Elsa Pataky, with appearances by Rita Ora and a possible cameo role as the villainous precursor to Fast And Furious 7, played by Jason Statham. Relativity Media To Co-Finance "BRICK MANSIONS" Starring Paul Walker & David Belle

Deadline is reporting that Relativity Media will co-finance the upcoming film, Brick Mansions with a script by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen with Besson-protegè Camille Delamare set to direct. The film will be an American revision of Pierre Morrel’s orginal French-language 2004 international parkour hit, Banlieue 13 (a.k.a. District B13) and Patrick Alessandrin’s 2009 follow-up, Banlieue 13: Ultimatum and will star Paul Walker and Parkour founder, David Belle who co-starred with actor, freerunner and fight choreographer Cyril Raffaelli in the previous films. Walker will play an undercover cop who enlists the help of a street smart freerunner to recover a weapon of mass destruction from a major drug pusher within the ghetto known as “Brick Mansions”.
