John Woo: ‘My Dream Is To Make A Western’

It’s almost surprising that acclaimed action auteur John Woo hasn’t found himself in the throes of a Western film production yet. It’s not for lack of trying either considering his willful transition in the early 1990s to work on Universal Pictures’ Hard Boiled and enduring through a great deal of bureaucracy to release his cut of the film; It’s imaginable that this could have been a stepping stone toward that goal at the time for Woo in his post-Hong Kong career, although relocating to China after several productions in the U.S. made it pretty clear that at least tentatively, it wasn’t meant to be. With any luck though, those long-awaited dreams of doing a Western may eventually come to pass. Netflix’s September Line-Up Is Looking Rad As F*ck With IRON FIST S2, BLACK PANTHER, BLEACH and More!

I’m over the moon this week. It’s been a bit mundane with Netflix in the last several months. Recently however, the additions of new Shaw Bros. titles to its roster have given me hope, and September is starting to look even better going by its new calendar promo. Granted the line-up is the usual mix of many tastes, but there is definitely something for those in particular who read sites like mine. Definitely looking forward to Iron Fist: Season Two and the arrival of Marvel’s Black Panther is surely something to keep in mind. Jeremy Saulnier’s Hold The Dark is especially one that will suit audiences later in the month and the official trailer looks every bit appealing. IRON FIST: It’s Danny VS. Davos In The Newest Season Two Trailer

Netflix is ripe for a time these days in which martial arts dramas are continuing to reap the favor of fans. 2019 will certainly be of interest while Marvel’s Iron Fist maintains its course for next month, and the footage we’re seeing has only gotten better since the campaign began this summer. Finn Jones is back in the title role of Danny Rand next to Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing for the story of a displaced survivor of a plane crash who, after living years in the distant realm of Kun’Lun, paves his path of self-discovery amidst epic battles back to New York City. We saw several of those clashes between our hero and that of his bitter sibling, Davos, played favorably by Sacha Dhawan and rest assured, season two makes it clear these two still have a score to settle.
