Tony Jaa Will Return To Finish His Scenes In FAST AND FURIOUS 7

Lee B. Golden III

It was after the tragic death of actor Paul Walker during Thanksgiving break on November 30, 2013 that with the shock and sadness came obvious questions pertaining to the late actor’s last work on Fast And Furious 7 prior to its now-cancelled release date three months from now. Script rewrites became an issue with little known as to whether or not some characters would be written out or changed altogether. “They’re having to rewrite, they’re having to do whatever they’re having to do to deal with the situation,” said actor Kurt Russell quoted in BBC back in January. “It’s catastrophic. It’s the worst thing that could happen to a movie, …but it’s not as bad as what happened to Paul.”. Such was the issue with international action hero Tony Jaa who had already filmed some scenes with Walker, and fans grew curious to know if the actor would still make […]

Lee B. Golden III

The North American limited theatrical premiere of writer and director Gareth Evans‘s new film, The Raid 2 is just a week and a half away with a wider release expected next month. I’m jusy going to say it: I envy everyone who has seen it other than me! The film screened over this past weekend here in New York City, followed by an event two days later at Apple Store SoHo, and were it not for the job (or my relentless cold this month), I would have attended. But, priorities remain. However, the one thing I am thankful for is being a part of a recent fan-based effort attributed to the film courtesy of independent filmmaker Vlad Rimburg whose latest short, Hammergirl, won fan-wide praise and approval among his niche, as well as the film’s select cast and crew since its airing last week. It was in August of last […]

And as a result, the bar is now being raised for more action, longer episodes and all the necessary trimmings to further expand the scope of the Black universe. About a month after the first season began airing last year, Film Combat Syndicate spoke to Ziede during an e-mail interview in which the director offered a little bit of insight on what fans could expect […]

The superhero genre has generated massive fanfare with the largely popular, commercial successes of Marvel and DC movies for decades now, especially with both entites gaining ground in their respective properties. But the one thing that does stand out for some people in a specific niche is the lack of prominent African lead actors and actresses in such films. Sure, we can highlight films like Spawn and, the Blade trilogy, and even several notable TV, film and online efforts over the last twenty years, although there still would not be a matching numerical comparison. As such, the trend of developing lead African superhero characters in one form or another has seen a small spike in growth, in part, as previously reported on this site and several others. And this week, adding to that list is the latest crowdfunded shortfilm production for Oya: Rise Of The Orisha, which looks to blend […]
