All Jackie Chan Needs Is One Inch In The Latest KUNG FU YOGA Trailer

Got a formula? Stick to it. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Certainly this is how action star Jackie Chan and many of his fans may feel about his movies and I can certainly understand. That said, I can’t really say I’m surprised and impressed anymore by a lot of what I see, except for whatever stands out the most in a trailer for any Jackie Chan film. That said, the first trailer for Stanley Tong’s Kung Fu Yoga sold me just on the wackiness of it all, carsick lions riding shotgun and what have you. That, plus whatever Chan has in store for the action sequences here may serve well for the average Chan fan and so in that respect, I personally hope to be entertained at the very least. Oleg Stepchenko’s long-awaited, albeit loose adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s 19th century horror novella, Viy, has seen quite an evolution. And a lengthy one at that with years of production hurdles until it finally released in 2014 in Russia; The film released in the U.S. as Forbidden Empire and as the first of a trilogy at that, a sequel was in tow the following year upon its announcement. Bigger hasn’t always been better, but that’s a matter of opinion as much of a gamble as it is for Hong Kong action staples Stanley Tong and Guinesss world record holder Jackie Chan. Teaming up for their newest epic, Kung Fu Yoga, pitting Chan as an archeologist among a small team of archeologists against the descendant of a rebel army leader with a worldly treasure at stake. An adventure ensues from Tibet and Dubai to India, hailing with intrigue, the usual plot twists, and the obligatory signature action and comedy stylings fitting of a Jackie Chan movie. If you’re looking for a little bit of big screen action this Holiday season, then you’re not too far off. A second official teaser finally arrived since the promotional campaign for the new Jackie Chan period adventure, Railroad Tigers, kicked off a few months ago, and the film will surely be releasing simultaneously this December along with China. For fans, it’s an otherwise warm welcome for Chan here who stars as a World War II railroad worker who uses his knowledge of the railway to ambush the Japanese and feed the hungry and starving. Rounding out the cast are Huang Zitao (Edge of Innocence), Wang Kai (Nirvana In Fire) and Darren Wang (Our Times). Check it out!

Clearly, The Latest Poster For Jackie Chan’s KUNG FU YOGA Needs To Be Taller

As broad as action star Jackie Chan’s skillset is, you can expect his latest, writer and director Stanley Tong’s Kung Fu Yoga to showcase a good number of surprises and morsels for Chan fans. The film opens early next year in China with Chan in the role of Jack, an archeologist and professor who sets out on a whirlwind adventure with a beautiful Indian professor and her assistant in search of lost treasure. Also starring are Lay Zhang of K-pop group EX0 and actress Miya Muqi and actor Aarif Rahman with Indian film stars Sonu Sood and Ileana D’Cruz rounding out the cast. With the film months away from its release, the marketing has begun for the film, and here to oblige is the latest poster for the film. Yes, it’s long. Very. SHANGHAI DAWN Sets On 'Napoleon Dynamite' Helmer Jared Hess To Direct

While the wait continues for the forthcoming Jackie Chan/Owen Wilson threequel, Shanghai Dawn, it is finally being reported that Napoleon Dynamite helmer Jared Hess will direct the film. The news comes nine months after it was announced that actors Chan and Wilson, under MGM president Jonathan Glickman, that the film was finally moving forward more than a decade after the 2003 sequel and its preceding initial vehicle in 2000. David Dobkin directed the first movie in the now trilogy-to-be in the wake of the Hong Kong cinema action hero’s rise to crossover celebrity stardom. Chan firsr joined Wilson in the respective comedic roles of rogue imperial guardsman Chon Wang and former bandit Roy O’Bannon in Shanghai Noon where they meet up in the 17th century old West and reluctantly pair-up to rescue the Imperial princess, played by Lucy Liu. Actor and legendary action cinema auteur Jackie Chan’s recent achievement with the Academy’s Honorary 2016 Governors Award has beem no easy feat to accomplish. A good look at his history will tell you that with respect to the challenges he’s faced both in front and behind the camera, and to no affect at all is he stopping any time soon with the current production of new sci-fi actioner, Bleeding Steel. Chan took to social media today to announce his gratitude in the wake of his latest announcement, marking yet another career milestone as well as a first for the Oscars. RAILROAD TIGERS On Track For A U.S. Release Through Well Go USA

It’s been a few days since action star and Guiness world record holder Jackie Chan snatched a spot as one of four recipients for an Honorary 2016 Governors Award for his achievements in film. All well and good, and he’ll be receiving that award in November while obviously continuing to excel in his craft with a raft of titles to boot, including KungFu Yoga, The Foreigner, and The Lego NINJAGO Movie. For now, his next runner-up for 2016 will be the release of Ding Sheng’s Railroad Tigers which joins Chan with actors Huang Zitao (Edge of Innocence), Wang Kai (Nirvana In Fire) and Darren Wang (Our Times) for the story of a railroad worker in 1941 who rallies a rebellion against the Japanese to get food to the poor. We still have The Lego BATMAN Movie coming in February along with whatever Warner Bros. Pictures has planned for a sequel to the 2014 Phil Lord/Chris Miller film. In the meantime, the studio has finally announced its official cast roster for Charlie Bean’s directorial debut, The Lego NINJAGO Movie following earlier news back in June. Come to think of it, I wouldn’t be surprised if the studio had plans for a cinematic universe here between all the films. Renny Harlin’s latest, Skiptrace, is off to a good start this past weekend at the box office overseas, which is good news for its lead actor, action star Jackie Chan who is currently scheduled for an In Conversation event at the Syndey Opera House where he will discuss his career in a little over a week. In the meantime, production rolls onward for Chan’s new venture in the area, Bleeding Steel, from sophomore director and writer Leo Zhang as of earlier this month and casting news is finally making the rounds. The film, from Village Roadshow Pictures Asia and Heyi Pictures, sees Chan in the role of a special forces agent fighting to protect an important witness to a major case as the two find themselves tangled in a conspiracy. The wait’s been long enough for director Renny Harlin’s latest, Skiptrace, to begin going hardcore on its promotional campaign. Now we’re here and with a China release set for July 22, a brand new trailer is here to lay claim for fans hard-up for another Jackie Chan headliner. Chan stars as a flatfoot whose chance meeting with a con artist, played by Johnny Knoxville, forces the two to help bring down a major crime boss. Also starring are Fan Bingbing, Zhang Lanxin, Eric Tsang, and actress and former WWE starlet Eve Torres whose role (and is that a Russian accent we’re hearing??) is much ado with some of the blooper antics in both the trailer, which is very high-energy, and the featurette just beneath. The most recent Chinese trailer seen above for director Renny Harlin’s latest, Skiptrace, began going viral several weeks ago despite the last several seconds of pertinent footage being cut. That footage you will get to see in the trailer above which outlines some of lead actor and action star Jackie Chan’s memorable titles, including Police Story and CZ12. At any rate, the full trailer’s availability marks the latest step in the elongated campaign for the film’s promotion following what would have been its release last year before being ultimately pushed back.
