THE BOOK OF CLARENCE Announces Production And Cast Details
Filming is underway for The Book of Clarence, the latest from The Harder They Fall helmer Jeymes Samuel. Production was announced on Tuesday with Samuel directing from his own script, as well as producing and scoring. Samuel is rejoined by The Harder They Fall cohorts, LaKeith Stanfield, who stars in the title role and actor RJ Cyler. The film also stars Omar Sy, Benedict Cumberbatch, James McAvoy, Anna Diop, Teyana Taylor, David Oyelowo, Alfre Woodard, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste, along with Caleb McLaughlin, Babs Olusanmokun, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Nicholas Pinnock, Micheal Ward, Chase Dillon, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor. Biblical Epic THE BOOK OF CLARENCE, A Nod To Jeymes Samuel’s ‘The Harder They Fall’ Is In The Works
Jeymes Samuel (a.k.a. “The Bullitts”) is moving forward with Biblical epic, The Book Of Clarence, which will star Lakeith Stanfield (Death Note, Sorry To Bother You). The film rejoins the two following Samuel’s hit Netflix Western, The Harder They Fall, in which Stanfield portrays Cherokee Bill, a member of the notorious gang led by outlaw Rufus Buck, played by Idris Elba in the film. Plot details are under wraps, but according to a new interview over at Deadline on Monday, Samuels notes the film follows up from an easter egg in The Harder They Fall in a key dialogue moment where the Nat Love gang regroups with legendary sheriff Bass Reeves to confront Buck who was since pardoned for his crimes, forcefully retreived from a Yuma-bound prison transport and re-settled in Redwood City. THE HARDER THEY FALL: Jeymes Samuel’s Revenge Drama Casts Jonathan Majors
Jonathan Majors (When We Rise, Hostiles, Captive State) will lead the cast for multifaceted artist Jeymes Samuel’s directorial debut, The Harder They Fall. Samuel, a singer/songwriter/producer a.k.a. The Bullitts, will helm a story that sees Majors in the role of Nat Love, an outlaw who reunites with his gang to take out the man who killed his parents 20 years ago. Samuel reunites with JAY-Z to produce following their collaborative soundtrack work on Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. James Lassiter and Lawrence Bender also produce. Majors will next appear in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods on Netflix in 2020, and later this year in Max Wrinkler’s bareknuckle drama, Jungleland.
