THE HARDER THEY FALL Goes Out With Guns Blazin’ In The First Official Trailer
If an all-black headlining cast for a slick, spiffy new western thriller is what you crave, pan over to the official trailer for The Harder They Fall from director Jeymes Samuel and starring Regina King, Idris Elba and Lakeith Stanfield.
When outlaw Nat Love (Jonathan Majors) discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck (Idris Elba) is being released from prison he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge. Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), his right and left hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler)—and a surprising adversary-turned-ally. Rufus Buck has his own fearsome crew, including “Treacherous” Trudy Smith (Regina King) and Cherokee Bill (LaKeith Stanfield), and they are not a group that knows how to lose.
The viewcount is already bursting at the seams since the trailer launched over the course of last night, and for good goddamn reason. The cast is top tier, the soundtrack – by Samuel and mega producer Jay Z – is absolute fire, and the cinematography is fantastic so far… yeah, that’s just the trailer, so there’s room to speculate. But there’s plenty more to hope.
Samuel also penned the script with Boaz Yakin, and produced the pic with Shawn Carter, James Lassiter and Lawrence Bender.
The Harder They Fall also stars Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo, LaKeith Stanfield, Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, R.J. Cyler, Damon Wayans Jr., and Deon Cole, and releases in theaters and Netflix later this year.
