Keanu Reeves is back for a third time in the ultimate begrudging return of our titular hitman in John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. The forthcoming threequel opens on May 17 and thus, the first official poster, still-form and animated, are now online.
Chad Stahelski’s John Wick: Chapter 3 took a spot among USA Today‘s exclusive photo gallery featuring Keanu Reeves in the title role. The photo is presented from another angle seperate to the latest photo from Lionsgate with Reeves sitting opposite actress Anjelica Huston who plays “The Director” in the movie.
Just shy of confirming a fourth film, director Chad Stahelski spoke to Entertainment Weekly adding his thoughts on the possibilities after next year’s third entry in the John Wick franchise:

The production of Lionsgate’s May 17, 2019-dated John Wick 3: Parabellum has already taken to Morrocco according to recent reports and as it turns out, the additions to its cast have all but continued. As GWW’s Omega Underground notes, actor Saïd Taghmaoui has joined the cast, albeit in an undisclosed role for the third-outing of director Chad Stahelski’s epic assassin opus that once more sees title actor Keanu Reeves as the former gangland enforcer fighting his way out of the crosshairs of the global assassins’ network that now wants him dead following the events of the second film.
The week is off to some intriguing firsts going into the Fall and indeed, Empire Online took to its platform all the same. Repping the May 2019 release of John Wick 3: Parabellum, we have a new photo of actor Keanu Reeves though similar to the BTS image that’s been going around with him on horseback.
Also starring are Ana Ularu, Pasha D. Lynchikoff, Dmitry Chepovetsky, James Gracie, Eugene Lipinski and Rafael Petardi, with Veronica Ferres and Molly Ringwald from a script by Scott B. Smith and Stephen Hamel.
At a time no better than midway into the production of another John Wick film, Saban is rolling out the official trailer for Matthew Ross’s upcoming crime thriller, Siberia. The Keanu Reeves-led pic is getting a limited theatrical, VOD and Digital HD on July 13 with Ana Ularu, Pasha D. Lychnikoff and Molly Ringwald also starring.
Director Rick Famuyiwa is making this week his own with at least two projects sourced per exclusives at The Hollywood Reporter and on Friday at Deadline. The celebrated helmer behind the hit film, Dope is partnering with producers at Plan B and New Regency for supernatural thriller, Black Hole.
Inspired by Charles Burns’s 1995 cult graphic novel of the same name, the film is set in the 1970s Pacific Northwest where teens have contracted sexually transmitted diseases that turn them into mutants. New Regency is financing the film which has been circling an adaptation since 2005.
Famuyiwa’s headline profusion increased even further having landed Netflix’s latest superhero feature, Past Midnight. The SVOD service behind a raft of Marvel shows all its own have reportedly won the bid in a hot contest for TJ Fixman’s script which, sans public plot details, teases a new type of vigilante superhero story with actor Keanu Reeves up to star and celebrated Marvel helmers Anthony and Joe Russo to produce.
Details remain pending on when and where Past Midnight will film while it could be almost shortly after the forthcoming Spring/Summer production of John Wick: Chapter Three under Chad Stahelski’s direction. The Russos’ Avengers: Infinity War just announced an advanced U.S. release date next month in addition to six more untitled films from the studio through July 2022.
“This series is truly unlike anything else on TV,” Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said. “The Continental promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introducing some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world.”
Three years, two films and more than a global gross of $171 million dollars later, the fact is there’s no way that the John Wick film saga was not getting third installment. That became clearer last October as well as back in June with reports of Derek Kolstad returning to pen the script; Chad Stahelski’s involvement was still being ironed out even after sharing the helm with 87Eleven partner David Leitch for the 2014 original and debuting as a solo director on the sequel.
For this, we have new trade updates over at Deadline officiating Stahelski’s return for John Wick: Chapter Three which now has an official release date set for May 17, 2019. Casting remains pending while the most obvious of the reprising bunch will be that of actor Keanu Reeves whose portrayal of the title character – a stoic hitman forced to violently broker his wishful exit from the highly-organized criminal underworld regulated by a self-sustaining global syndicate known as The Continental, which itself is in the works for a titular television series in addition to female-centric spin-off, Ballerina.
Stahelski is also shepherding a Highlander remake and a revised TV adaptation of Rain, inspired by Barry Eisler’s series of assassin novels.
There’s no question that a third chapter in the John Wick saga was in the works. After the riproaring second installment with John Wick: Chapter Two, it was only a matter of time before we would hear from its director, Chad Stahelski, who teased his involvement in the development of the film’s pending trilogical outing with an eye to direct.
For what it’s worth, that still appears to be the case while a new report from THR has otherwise confirmed the return of screenwriter Derek Kolstad to the table. It was he who helped bring the character to life for the 2014 breakout hit from Stahelski and then-directing partner David Leitch with actor Keanu Reeves in the title role.
The sequel, following the events of the first film in which former Russian mob enforcer, Wick, avenges his late wife’s legacy – slighted at the hands of his former boss’s sniveling son – is forced back into the seedy underworld of assassins when a blood oath ensnares him with a mission that ultimately seals his fate in a world run by killers with few friends to count on.
That film stars Riccardo Scamarcio, Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Common, John Leguizamo and Lawrence Fishburne with a cameo by actor Peter Stormare and is available on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K from Lionsgate. The next chapter is on the fast track toward a production start this Fall from Lionsgate with Basil Iwaynk returning to produce.
Actor Keanu Reeves returns to the title role that became a surprise box office hit 2014 and followed suit back in February. Having avenged his late wife’s legacy in the first film, a blood oath with a former colleague ensnares Wick’s peaceful resolve, forcing him back on the violent path of bloodshed in a series of events that could very well bring him to the point of no return.

Lionsgate is rolling out all the goods between now and the next few weeks with the nearing release of John Wick: Chapter 2. That includes a new poster, a new featurette, a few new television spots to boot…
Well, the featurette is what’s on and poppin’ right now highlighting more behind-the-scenes factoids about the construction of the action, host to speaking segments by actors Keanu Reeves and Common, ans stunt professional Jackson Spidell. February 10 is the date in the U.S. for the film’s release. I’m going, that’s just a fact.
